American singer-songwriter Nicole Scherzinger has topped the British singles chart for the first time as a solo artist with her new single Don't Hold Your Breath.
Scherzinger, lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls pop group, has had two other solo UK hits, Poison and Babylove, neither of which reached the top of the British chart.
The American, who previously dated Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, ended British singer Adele's four-week run in pole position with her ballad "Someone Like You", pushing her down to second place.
The Official Charts Company, which compiles the weekly rundown, said British-Irish boy band The Wanted entered the top 40 at number three with "Gold Forever".
Adele continued to dominate the album chart, holding on to the number one spot with "21" and rising two places to second with her debut album "19", first released in early 2008.
