Free Shoes!

It's true! I received a $65 credit at CSN Stores, in exchange for reviewing any items bought. I knew this blog thing would start paying off someday! Most of the things they have are for the home, and are over $65. There were no geeky things to be found here, but what they do have is a whole lot of shoes. I got the cute heels that you can see to the left, and a present for my Nikki as well: A pair of flipflops with frogs on the straps. Nikki loves frogs!

The pink heels are by Funtasma. I've definitely never heard of this company, but these shoes are just as awesome as they look. Unfortunately, they didn't have any half sizes. I'm really a 7 1/2, so I had to choose between a 7 and an 8. Luckily, the shoes fit just fine. I love the color, the style, and the little black bow in front. Somehow they manage to be cutesy and sexy all at the time. They're very feminine, and rather comfortable as well. I do have a pair of Mudd heels that are more comfortable, but I have quite a bit more that are real foot-killers. The straps are actually adjustable, meaning that you can move the buckle over to fasten it easier. The buckles of women's shoes actually face outward, which makes them harder to fasten when crossing your legs. With these shoes, I can just buckle the thing, then move the strap back to where it should be. Oh, and one more thing: Inside the shoe, there are polka dots! I would have to say that this is one of my favorite heels now. After not buying any cute shoes for a year or two, it's about time I got another pair. Yay! Photos?

Oooh... they're so pretty...

There's those polka dots I mentioned.

They look even better on my foot than on the table.  ;)

 An aerial view.

Gotta love those model poses in the dining room...

Yes, I'm shameless!

Nikki's shoes are by Tidewater. They may look black in the picture below, but they're actually navy in color. She got all excited when I gave them to her. She was giggling and jumping up and down. She loves frog things so much. I was actually really excited all day, in anticipation of giving her this gift. I love my sweetie so much. Anyway, she says they're very comfortable. Other than that, there isn't much else to say. Flipflops should be comfy, cute and easy to put on. This pair certainly fits the bill!

Unfortunately, Nikki didn't want to pose wearing the sandals. Waaaah!

That's it for my shoe reviews. I wish all my American readers a very Happy Thanksgiving, and to everyone else, have a great day!

12th International Transgender Day of Remembrance

When will it all end? Probably not in my lifetime. Until it ends, we have the Transgender Day of Remembrance. There are a lot of deaths that have gone unrecorded in the public media. Many people are not recognized as being transgender by local authorities. Some are crossdressers who were clothed as their born sex when they were murdered, and others were transsexuals and had not yet started transition. According to http://www.transrespect-transphobia.org/en_US/tvt-project/tmm-results/tdor2010.htm, there have been 179 killings since the last TDOR. However, only 29 are reported at http://www.transgenderdor.org. Perhaps there wasn't enough information to include the other 150 deaths?

As far as Blogger is concerned, this is a very large entry. There are long pauses as I type, and then all of a sudden, a string of text shoots out. These entries are only going to get larger and larger each year. In order to record those deaths that occurred since my last entry on November 20th, 2009, I went to

The previous deaths were taken from the "wall" at the Remembering Our Dead site at: http://www.rememberingourdead.org/about/core.html

Hopefully you'll never see my name on any of these sites. Many others have not been so lucky. They were killed simply for the act of being themselves. Living their life as who they are inside. They were welcomed with violence and death. I wonder if the human race will ever grow and mature beyond the savages that some of us clearly are.

Gender Reassignment Surgery

People have all sorts of labels for this surgery. Gender Reassignment Surgery (GRS), Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS), Sex Realignment Surgery... this list goes on and on. The surgery (and the quest) is the same: To change one's physical sex to match the gender that they are inside.

The surgery is pretty expensive, and hard to come by in America, due to very little medical coverage that would cover it (it's a crap shoot really). It's been over seven years since I started HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy). I'd really planned on having the surgery done by now. Alas, plans and reality don't always agree. I could not imagine how happy I would be if I had this surgery. There's a part of me that just never belonged. I never wanted it. I went from apathetic about it (before 2003) to being disgusted about it (2003 or after). It's the final step in my transition... one that I wonder if I'll ever take.

Someone has intimated lately that I'm fine with what I have between my legs, and that I wouldn't want to "fix it if it's not broken." Shockingly, this is someone who is a transsexual herself. There's always one in a bunch that make you scratch your head and go, "Huh???"

It is not broken. It works fine on a man. But I'm not a man. I want it gone, replaced by what should be there. I don't want to worry about a bulge. I don't want to look in the mirror anymore and see this nasty thing. I want it gone!

Through shameless self-promotion, I've been looking for donations. I have gotten a few, to whom I am eternally grateful. I understand that in this time of hardship, most people can't help me out in this way, even if they might be so inclined. I wouldn't blame anyone for not even having the inclination. But maybe my call for help will reach one of the four (or so) people in this world who still manage to have more money than they know what to do with. Maybe.

I've had the donation gadget on the sidebar of this blog since it started. Since Blogger introduced "pages" not too long ago, I've added a "Donate" page. (I also increased the font and such to make the pages easier to catch the eye.)

I also have a "cause" on a Facebook app called... Causes. It's a pretty selfish cause, but hey it has to be better than "Expand FarmVille Crops" or some such. Then again, that benefits many, while my cause benefits only me. Nonetheless, I've recruited just over 180 people so far, and gotten a few encouraging messages. The Causes app originates from outside of Facebook, so if you'd like to check it out for any reason, here's the link:

http://www.causes.com/amygrs

I've heard a couple stories of transwomen who have gotten large sums of money to help pay for their GRS. All they did was put up a website with a link for donations. Maybe I'll get lucky too...?

Nikki and Amy's Four Year Anniversary!

November 5th marked four years for Nikki and I. Wow. Four years. It went by so quickly. It seems more like two or something. The amazing thing is that we love each other as much as ever, in fact... more! We're still mega-affectionate, sweet, romantic, and loving toward each other. I'd heard that once you pass the three year mark, you've passed the test of time. I guess we made it, baby!

We had many choices regarding where we'd like to go out to eat. With nobody to watch the kids, we decided to go to lunch while the older two were in school, and Skylar was in preschool (a two hour window). We thought about Thai food (love it!), Chinese, and a few other places. We decided on BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse, after being tantalized by all the interesting dishes available for viewing online.

Interestingly enough, there was a waiting list for lunch! All these people must've been on vacation, or they work nights or something. The place was so packed. It was about a 15 minute wait. Once seated, Nikki ordered a Strawberry Daiquiri, which was not sweet at all. It had a sour taste. Not that good. I ordered a strawberry lemonade, which was pretty bland. It was warm in the glass, but the ice soon cooled it. For an appetizer, we shared these chicken lettuce wraps. Here's a pic from the online menu:

Neither of us had ever had a lettuce wrap before, and these were good. The description on the website reads: "Marinated chicken breast diced and sautéed with mushrooms, water chestnuts, celery, green onions, garlic and topped with crispy wontons. Served with chilled iceberg lettuce cups, sesame soy sauce and hot Chinese mustard." The latter two ingredients were on the side, and we didn't avail ourselves of them. The rest was really good! Tangy, but not overly spicy.

For the main course, Nikki got Atlantic salmon with rice pilaf and steamed vegetables. She loved it. It came on this unusually-shaped dish.

I decided to get the nachos for an entree, though it's meant to be a shared appetizer. To be precise, it's called Piranha Pale Ale Nachos. It featured cheese, tomatoes, green onions, olives, sour cream, salsa and jalapeños. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce, unfortunately. They put oregano in it for some strange reason. Other than that, the nachos were really good, and no I did not eat them all in one sitting!

The waiter was very cool about taking our picture. I even told him it was our anniversary. We have no interesting stories like during our last anniversary meal, but there was one teenage girl who kept staring at us. We smiled at her, and she stopped looking as much. You know when people look all around, and then at you, to make you think they're looking at everything, not just you? That's what she did, and it was indeed pretty obvious. Funny, though.

 Nachos. Yummmmmmy!

Om nom nom nom.

Anyway, I'm so thrilled at the completion of another wonderful year with my honey. It was a pretty eventful one. We moved to another state, Nikki got a new job, and we made a whole slew of new, cool friends out here. I don't know what I'd do without my sweetie. She completes me. She makes me happy just by my being around her. She's my soulmate, my lover, and my treasure. Here's to another year!

Just Dance!

I guess it's fitting that I label this post under "weight and exercise," because wow was I sweating my butt off! The whole area was still pretty warm from the stove and oven running (making dinner). Anyway, we were playing various videos off of YouTube and shaking our little asses. We, being Sarah, Savannah, Skylar and I. Nikki took the pictures. Too bad she didn't get in any pics herself. As in my last two posts (here and here), you are now witness to how crazy I am... and how crazy my whole family is! Observe...

Here I was playing Skylar like a guitar!

Whip that hair around. Classic shot, eh?

We were swinging Skylar back and forth. No four year olds were harmed in the making of this photo.

Savannah is riding Sarah's back. What a face on Sarah, ha ha!

Another classic dance move!

I think my legs would break if I tried to do this!

She's way too heavy to be picking up now. My arms hurt afterwards!

This was shot during Lady GaGa's "Bad Romance." If you've seen the video, then you might know what move we were doing.

Same here. I think I hissed for effect during this shot.

You do this wave thing, then you put your arm under your neck (horizontally), then you wave again. Hee hee!

You put your hands like this and then you shake your booty back and forth.

Ally Sheedy's Breakfast Club Corn Pops and Pixy Stix Sandwich

Wow, that's a mouthful. And so was the sandwich. This is the second post in my almighty quest to show everyone just how insane I really am. (See here for "part one" of the series.)

Has anyone ever seen (and remember) the scene with Ally Sheedy in The Breakfast Club, when she makes some really wacky, sugary sandwich... and eats it? No? Then watch this before proceeding. If yes, then watch it anyway. It's pretty funny!

Since Ally Sheedy was one of my favorite actresses back then, and Breakfast Club is still one my favorite movies, I've decided to recreate this lil' scenario and try the sandwich for myself.

The only thing is, the soda. I don't drink soda, it's too unhealthy, so we're limited to this fine sandwich.

I started with a ham and cheese sandwich. Like Ally, I put the cheese aside and threw the meat on a vertical surface.

Miss Sheedy had all-white Pixy Stix (imitation brand?). How boring. I have red (which comes out pink)...

blue...

...and pink (which comes out as a lighter shade of pink).

 Now just add Corn Pops!

 Smoosh them all real nice.

Put the two pieces together.

CRUNCH!

She does this little wink at the end. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for your entertainment), it's hard for me to wink without sneering. I look like I'm sick or something. (I would've gotten sick if I had eaten the whole thing!)

I did eat half of the sandwich, but it was just way too much sugar (duh!). I gave the rest to our rats.

Th-Th-Th-Th-Th-... That's all, folks!

Oh No, My Keys!

I was going to the store the other night, and I grabbed a bag full of garbage on the way. I usually end up holding my keys in my hand if I'm wearing a skirt or some kind of shorts with no pockets. After all, I was locking the front door and then heading to the dumpster, which is right by the car. So I had my pocketbook over my left shoulder, my phone in my left hand, and the trash bag in my right hand... and the keys too. Well, it must have been, for when I threw the garbage bag in the dumpster, I heard a slight jingling sound, and now my right hand was completely empty. Aaaaaaghhhh!

I ran back to the house, and decided to go to the back sliding door, which goes to our bedroom. I figured that Nikki wouldn't hear me knocking at the (locked!) front door, since she was watching TV. I scared the hell out of her, because she didn't know who would be banging on the sliding door (or why!).

"Baby, I have some bad news. I dropped the keys in the dumpster."

"Oh no!"

"Oh, yes. Could you please help me?"

Unfortunately, we didn't have a working flashlight, so we grabbed a candle and a box of matches. We walked to the dumpster and peered in, ineffectual candle at hand. I couldn't see a thing. I had to get in there. But noooo, I didn't want to go in there! The keys were all ones that we could get more copies of, except for the car keys. They're the kind that has this computer chip in it, and that cost us $40 to get a copy to begin with! Without that, I'd always have to borrow Nikki's keys and such. What a hassle. So in I went. I'm pretty agile, so I got in there with no problem. Oh, here's a picture of the dumpster, during the day... when you can see what's in it!:

Ugh. I would NOT touch anything with my hands. I started moving bags around with my feet. I couldn't see crap with only the candle for light. Nikki lit a stick (!) and held it just inside the dumpster, but it kept going out. I was nervous that there might be gas or alcohol fumes in the dumpster that would ignite. Then some nice man came up with a big flashlight and shined it in the dumpster for me. How embarrassing. I still didn't see the keys.

With a resigned sigh, I thanked the man and climbed out of there. Once back home, I threw my sneakers in the washer, changed my clothes, and washed my hands and arms real good. I grabbed Nikki's keys and started to head back out to the store. I reached in the side pocket of my pocketbook to get my phone, and guess what was in there?

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!

The Show Goes On

[ Lupe Fiasco - Show Goes On ] song dedicated to 2010 SF Giants Champions!!!

Hello my loves!
I just had to come on and post up this memorable day. Im in bed and I could not fall asleep for the life of me, ever since this far along my pregnancy I've been having a difficult time falling asleep. Guess Baby Illi is just like mommy-->Insomniac<--- that's not good. lol. So I was lying in bed and I went on my phone to google up how to fall asleep while pregnant. I got a few things that kinna helped me understand and have a reference for future nights like this (which will happen). In case there are some upcoming mommies out there like me who are having trouble sleeping like me can use some of these tricks and tips. Here ya go!

1. Go to bed drowsy.
Sometimes the issue is that you are going to bed wound up and not able to sleep because you are not physically or mentally ready to sleep. By entering your bed, only when truly ready to sleep, you increase the likelihood of actually succeeding. To help with this avoid caffeine after early afternoon, don't exercise vigorously past late afternoon, and don't have heavy discussion before bed or in bed. Doing relaxation alone or with your partner can be helpful.

2. Try a sleep inducing snack.
Comfort food isn't always bad. There are some snacks that might actually be helpful in promoting sleep. The warm milk or turkey can do the trick. The key when pregnant is to not overdo it and wind up giving yourself heartburn which keeps you awake.

3. Warm water.
A bath or shower can not only relax you and soothe soreness that accompanies pregnancy, but it can also help you prepare for sleep. This works before bedtime as well as in the middle of the night. For a double dose, trying reading in the tub to help clear your mind.

4. Reading or other mindless work.
Reading, doing small craft projects or even a tiny bit of mindless television can help you shut down your brain. In pregnancy you may feel like your mind is racing with all you need to do and think about. By giving yourself a chance to shut it off you can help prepare yourself for sleep. Avoid reading tense novels, mysteries or scary books if that upsets you in anyway. I also do not recommend pregnancy books for this time period, though baby name books seem to do well.

5. Get up.
When all else fails, don't lay in bed. Get up, do something, even if it's just changing locations. Set a time limit of 30 or 60 minutes that you'll stay in bed trying to fall asleep or back to sleep. Fighting it can only be more frustrating. And sometimes you can be very productive in the middle of the night alone. Some say that this helps you prepare for the sleepless nights in parenting ahead.

But anywho, shall I say YESTERDAY technically was the official day of San Francisco Giants day! Champions of the 2010 World Series baby!!! Ain't that some shit, so far this year is ending pretty well! :) Even though we may have been shit talked left and right bout us making it to the World Series and what not; we showed them fcukers!!! Riiiight! We proved them wrong and what makes it SO MUCH FRESHER THAN FRRRESH KICKS is the fact that WE LEFT THE MARK at THEIR HOME. hahaha!!! bitches. WE OWN IT boyyyyyyyy! Stomped on them 4-1 hell fcuk yess. shut them shit talkers up! Ain't got nothin to say now do they after we took over! I'm so glad to be alive to witness such a mark in History of Sports. Alright enough of that, Halloween has came and passed with a blink of an eye! This year I went over to thee sister's place to help her pass out candy to her trick-or-treaters since I'm preggo it's best for me to stay in doors and plus her hubby havent gotten to go trick-or-treating with her and her babies at all. Its about time for him to take a break from passing out candies every year and to go out and enjoy a night with his familia on Halloween (= Since I don't have any costume I just came up with a last minute costume with the things I had at home.
Our Pumpkin Family.
Me, Illi, and Juls
You like the little bow I did on Illi? hahha... to make her look more cute and baby-ish with her two teeth :P
And I had came up with Minnie Mouse, lol. A very cheap costume, but hey! It's better than nothing. I finally applied makeup, been a hot minute since I wore any shadows and what not. I just threw on my Disney Land mickey mittens and ears and I was set, applied some rosey ass cheeks and a mouse nose and I was set. Oh! I also taped on my Velcro hair bow onto the ears so it looked more Minnie! hahha... Ironically my bow was red and polk-a-dotted! So it all worked out in the end ^_^V I had a overall great Halloween, very chill and relaxing. Next year I will have Illiana dressed up for Halloween for sure! :D hehe. I hope you guys had an awesome Halloween this year! Let me know what'chall costumes were!! I would love to know and hear about it! Take Care loves! Have a great one! *Deuce deuce*
