Appearing alongside her husband on Thursday's Howard Stern Radio Show, the actress admitted Arquette always wanted sex.
She told the satellite radio DJ, "Whenever I would need consoling from David, he could not literally put his arm around me for one second without completely getting a boner."
Arquette protested, but his wife insisted, "No, that's the truth."
The actor then told his shock jock pal that a recent stint in rehab had helped him get in touch with his emotions.
He said, "I know I'm more in touch with what she needs now."
The chat got really serious when Arquette appeared to suggest the marriage was over and they should take the necessary steps.
He stated, "I think you're over it, baby. You just need to admit it and we just need to figure out next steps."
A shocked Cox responded, "Wow, that's heavy... The truth of the matter is that we love each other so much. We have such affection for each other but we are very different.
"There are a lot of things that David likes to do (that are) completely the opposite (to) things I do. I'm a homebody. David... likes to go out and dance... He really is a very gregarious guy. He's very outgoing. I'm much more of an introvert."
She ended the candid radio chat by insisting she has not had sex since she and Arquette separated last summer. He revealed on the Stern show last year that he had bedded a waitress.
