The mother-of-two finished off her outfit with a pair of towering platform wedges as she performed her duet Collide with Kid Rock on the show at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
However, the 49-year-old revealed more than she intended when she took to the stage - and according to eagle-eyed fans watching the show live on television, accidentally flashed her underwear when she sat on a stool to sing.
As she returned to the stage with country singer Sara Evans to introduce a performance by Lady Antelbellum, she said: 'People are tweeting that when I stood up from the stool, my underwear was showing.'
As Evans chipped in, saying: 'At least you were wearing underwear,' Crow quipped: 'I am good clean family entertainment.'
Sheryl has a history of performing on the show with Kid, the ex-husband of Pamela Anderson, as the pair duetted at the bash - where all the awards are voted for by fans - last year.
The ceremony is held every year in Nashville and is broadcast live on Country Music Television, with voting taking place on the website.
The All I Wanna Do singer Sheryl meanwhile also hooked up backstage with her old friend Keith Urban and his Hollywood star wife Nicole Kidman.
Elsewhere at the do, hosted by Country Music Television, Shania Twain slipped and fell as she took to the stage to announce the Male Video Of The Year, and Justin Bieber posed with just about every guest there.
Shania had opened the show with a Thelma And Louise style-spoof with Taylor Swift.
Sheryl meanwhile, who was once engaged to cycling legend Lance Armstrong and battled breast cancer in 2006, is currently taking a break from promoting last year's 100 Miles From Memphis album
She's been touring it in the U.S. and the next leg kicks off in Aspen, Colorado, on 25 June.
The hitmaker, who has sold 35 million records worldwide, has also got a new book out, called If It Makes You Healthy, a pun on another of her hit songs, If It Makes You Happy.
