How do you satirize a man whose life has already turned into a perpetual comedy skit? That’s for Comedy Central to figure out: on Tuesday that cable channel announced that Charlie Sheen, who has been an ex-star of “Two and a Half Men” for so long now that we can’t remember why he’s still famous, will be the subject-cum-victim of the next installment of its popular series of televised roasts.
The “Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen,” where celebrity guests and comedians will say to Mr. Sheen the things that they’ve already been saying behind his back and run catch phrases like “tiger blood” and “winning!” into the ground, will be filmed in Los Angeles on Sept. 10 and broadcast on Sept. 19, the channel said on Tuesday.
Mr. Sheen, who follows in the footsteps of immortal roastees like Donald Trump, David Hasselhoff and Flavor Flav, said in a statement: “You could say I’ve been providing kindling for this roast for a while. It’s time to light it up. It’s going to be epic.” Comedy Central has already settled on a Twitter hashtag — #SheenRoast — for the event, but no celebrity roasters were immediately announced; we’ll assume the “Two and a Half Men” co-creator Chuck Lorre won’t be making a trip to the dais.
