Gilroy Garlic Festival 2011

[ Watching: George Lopez ]

So this pass weekend was the Gilroy Garlic Festival, it's a festival consisting of all food with the star ingredient garlic, music, events, and prizes. The weather was hot and it was PACKED with people. It's like an hr & 10 minutes drive from the city, but we we're stuck in jam packed traffic for an extra hour! So that sucked.

I started to daydream off because I was hungry and tired...

Illiana had fallen asleep half way there which was a relief for us, but she ended up waking up once we had hit traffic jam.

Juls concentrating on the road, there were plenty of idiot drivers out that day.

Since it was so packed and freakin scorching out under the sun we found ourselves a nice shaded spot to chill and enjoy our food. Illiana hella caught me snapping photos of her (with broccoli stuck on her mouth still).

Daddy enjoying the Special Plate of the day from the hawaiian/asian booth.

Special Plate consist of 1 skewer of teriyaki chicken, 1 skewer of beef teriyaki, 1 veggie egg roll, fried rice, and chow mein. The chicken teriyaki was really good! And the veggie egg roll was on point.

We also decided to try the Tamale booth, it was pretty good; and I'm not that huge of a fan for tamales because it's so similar to the chinese Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice that I can't get pass the fact it's not. haha... Juls liked it tho.

Oh yea, I failed to mention I fell and scraped the shit outta my leg; there were so many hidden pot holes under the grassy harsh hay that my wedge caught into one and I fell knee forward. And it happened while we were walking TO the festival from the parking lot, so it was burning through out my whole day. Sucked balls and it still hurts like a bitch.

On a brighter note, I will leave you guys with Illi's 'MOB' face look.

Happy Weekend!
Good luck surviving the incoming week loves. You're not alone.

Shoes: Reebok Kamikaze III Mid

[ Marques Houston - Sunset ]

So... recently I've kept seeing this commercial with Swizz Beatz promoting the latest Reebok shoe line (Kamikaze III Mid). The show itself looks very air-y, like it has a nice bounce to it; I wonder if the inside of the shoe is comfortable.

And the more and more I see it, I notice it look like a combination of jordans. Like seriously take a look... If you were to add...

Right? I mean dont get me wrong, I love my Jordan 7's especially the original (Olympians, which I still kept my pair). The shoe don't look half bad, I wonder if it's comfortable like the 7's? Have any of you copp'd a pair of the Kamikaze? How you liking them? Let me know.

Kpop Fashion

[ 2NE1 - Ugly ]

I dig the Korean Pop fashion, it's spunky and fun! All the time! I like how they are NOT afraid to spice things up and dress OUTSIDE the box.

They can be comfy, fitting, or just plain and simple. I really like some of their crazyyyy shoes!!

Mr. & Mrs.

It is official. We are Mr. and Mrs. Macdonald. Yes, small "d". It was a great few days. My best friends in the world were in town. My new best friends in the world were in town (yes, I mean all the amazing people I've met in the past 3 years through Matt). We missed a few others who couldn't make the trip but we realize how many wonderful people are a part of our lives now because of the other person.

I wanted to share a few pictures with everyone! None of these are the professional ones, just from our guests. But I love them. It was so much fun. Thank you to everyone who was involved, everyone who showed up. Thanks to everyone who has shown us support along the way.

WE LOVE YOU!!

Where have I been

[ Watching: E! Exclusive - Nicki Minaj ]

Hello,
I know I've been kind of missing these pass couple of days, Illiana got sick somehow; and it turned into a very bad fever, then into a very bad viral infection. We visited the ER like 3 nights in a row and by the 3rd time the hospital decided to hospitalize her so they can take care of her. Juls and I stayed by her side the entire time. Here is the ER where we been in multiple early mornings.

By the time we got admitted to our room it was like 6 in the morning, very dark. Here is the crib they had set up for Illiana. Looks like a jungle cage don't it? There must be some aggressive babies.

When we finally got admitted to our room we have a little television set to keep us sane.

Parents' wrist band tags to make sure we are the only ones and there aren't any impostors trying to steal our baby. You'll be surprise the crimes of people.

Finally a photo Illiana with daddy (Juls), this is when she has gotten A LOT better; she looked so much worst before. We were so worried. The feeling of feeling helpless when seeing your child suffering is the most horrible feeling ever.

But I'm so glad she is okay now, she's all playful and happy again! So that is the update on me, but don't worry! I will keep up with my postings! I hope you guys had a great weekend! Stay up and make it through another fresh week everyone! Take Care.

"These Are a Few of My Favorite Things"

I adore so many things right now. I wanted to share a few of them with you. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Audrina Patridge - Shape July 2011

Audrina's ab workout.
Audrina Patridge looks awesome. I wasn't a huge fan of her on the The Hills, I didn't dislike her either, but these days she is doing a lot and looking great doing it. Her abs are unreal. Add a few of her moves into your daily routine and maybe you'll see a big difference too!
Ray Ban Original Wayfarer $145
These puppies are my new love. I bought these from Macy's the other day (15% off) and can't get enough of them. {Maybe you remember them from Saturday night's fiesta?}The classic Wayfarer is making a come back! Oh, and maybe you can throw on your new sun shades while you're rockin' the fishtail!
Fergalicious
Love this. Also, I've been spending a lot of time in this store. It's such a great inspiration. Has amazing pieces and stylish, comfortable, great clothes. It's images have been burned into my mind for weeks now.

Motivation

I have been working out. I swear.

I've just been struggling with getting there in the first place. It's like pulling teeth. I'm hating it. I've never been so opposed to working out in my life.

I just went to the doctor this morning. Since December 2010 I have lost 5 pounds. Not awesome, but great. Since starting my pre-wedding workout I have noticed a lot. My arms are getting more muscular. My legs are getting more toned. The problem I have - my thighs have also gotten more muscular - aka bigger. Brutal. But I guess it's for good reason right? Right? Maybe? Aw eff it.

Matt just asked me to do the P90x Ab Ripper with him again. I'll do this now. Finish off "work" for the day then get my butt to the gym.

What is your motivation for getting to the gym? Help me out here everyone!

US to require gun buyer information at border

WASHINGTON - Facing flow of illicit weapons into Mexico, the U.S. Justice Department announced Monday that all gun shops in four Southwest border states will be required to alert the federal government to frequent buyers of high-powered rifles.

The new policy comes amid criticism of a flawed federal probe aimed at dismantling large-scale arms trafficking networks along Arizona's border with Mexico.

In the investigation, called Operation Fast and Furious, several agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives say they were inexplicably ordered by superiors to stop tracking some small-time "straw" buyers who purchased large numbers of weapons apparently destined for drug cartels.

Twenty low-level gun buyers have been charged in the operation. In December, two assault rifles, bought by one of the now-indicted small-time buyers under scrutiny in Fast and Furious from a gun shop in Glendale, Arizona, turned up at the scene of a shootout that killed Brian Terry, an agent of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In recent congressional testimony, ATF agent John Dodson estimated that 1,800 guns in Fast and Furious were unaccounted for, and about two-thirds are probably in Mexico.

Under the new policy, federal firearms licensees in Texas, California, Arizona and New Mexico must report buys of two or more of some types of rifles by the same person in a five-day span. The requirement applies to purchases of semiautomatic rifles that have detachable magazines and a calibre greater than .22.

ATF estimates it will generate 18,000 reports a year.

Deputy Attorney General James Cole said the new reporting measure will improve the ATF's ability to disrupt illegal weapons trafficking networks that funnel firearms to criminal organizations

Rep. Elijah Cummings, the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said the new policy "is exactly what ATF agents on the ground told Congress — that reporting multiple sales of military-grade assault weapons is a crucial tool to identify and disrupt Mexican drug cartels engaged in gun trafficking."

One of the critics of Operation Fast and Furious called the new policy "the height of hypocrisy." The Obama administration is restricting the gun rights of border state citizens, "when the administration knowingly and intentionally allowed guns to be trafficked into Mexico," said House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, a Texas Republican.

"Limiting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens is not going to solve the problem," Smith said.

Mexico's federal security spokesman, Alejandro Poire, said his government approves Obama's action.

ATF estimates the requirement will cover nearly 8,500 gun store operators in the four states, although less than 30 per cent of those operators are expected to have multiple sales to report.

ATF will retain the information, and if no investigative leads have been realized after two years, it will be purged.

Holders of federal firearms licenses already report multiple sales of handguns. The results go to the National Tracing Center, and ATF says it has led to successful prosecutions for firearms trafficking.

A Successful Evening

Saturday night was my Bachelorette Party. It began at my cousin's (and maid of honor's) house. There was a pitcher of vodka and cranberry juice. A large bucket of wine, Corona, Michelob, Bud Light, and a giant penis. I asked my MOH to take a picture of the penis (it was a sugary concoction - which tasted delicious) and send it to Matt. He wrote back "Thanks for making it life-sized."

We ended up at a bar called Bartini. Which apparently wasn't paying their liquor taxes and was shut down the night before (idiots). But lucky me it was back up and running for Saturday's festivities. I drank and danced and drank some more. All I wanted to hear from the DJ was that one song, you know, "Tag team back again, check it and blah blah and let's begin, party on party people, let's hear some noise" and so on. WHOOMP THERE IT IS! The DJ wouldn't play it. Seriously? He was a douche. He said it was "too old".

As this was a complete and total bummer to my night, we decided to move bars. Next door. The ol' Cadillac Ranch. The old single girl haunt {well, one of them ;o)}. There's a mechanical bull and "too old" music. I marched right up to the DJ and WHOOMP THERE IT IS was all over the place. I danced with another Bachelorette. We shook our booties then mine got smacked by all her friends. Thank God I'll never see those people again.

Now I know you're not supposed to talk to or see your fiance during your bachelorette party, well, TOO BAD! Matt showed up once we went home. By that time we were down to my cousin, my sister-in-law, and myself. It was around 2:30. Not too late, I know, but once Matty and his friend were there we kept partying. We rocked out until 5:00 a.m. when we finally crashed. I really enjoyed him there. It's supposed to be your last hoorah, right? Well, I think having a final hoorah together is much more fun!

Here are a few of my favorites from the night. Matt actually took the best pictures. They were candids. Of himself watching TV, checking his watch, standing in the corner, his shoes. Unfortunately for everyone else, he decided to delete them the next morning. They were awesome. You just have to take my word for it.

Somethings In Life

It has been quite some time since the last time I posted about the awkward and awesome things in my life. I thought today would be a good day to get back to that great post idea. Happy reading!

Awkward
  • Lucy - I've scared the living daylights out of my cat several times this week. She's not scared of anything. Not even a 100 pound dog. But, me? I've sent her flying into the cabinets, the wall, the couch, and half peeing herself every time I try to pet her.
  • The sounds of my gross, sticky feet on my yoga mat. It's humid in Cincinnati everyone. If you haven't been here before, you just don't get it. Maybe the other people in the class didn't care, or even notice, but I did. Sorry.
  • Sleeping alone after you've had another person there for so long. If I get even half the bed it's like being in a black hole of space.
  • I feel less motivated to work out while Matt is gone. You would think while your significant other is out of town you would fill the void with a little physical activity. Nope.
Awesome
  • I went to my first yoga class in about 3 months tonight. I'm sorry I have been neglecting my practice. But it felt great to get back to it!
  • HP4K has another event coming up on July 29th in Blue Ash, Ohio at the Firehouse Grill. If you're in the area come help the fight against cancer and maybe grab yourself some really awesome sports memorabilia.
  • I got a sweet little suitcase. For decorative purposes. It has Rome on it (been there). It's housing some wedding materials, remotes, pens, and other knick knacks that I seriously cannot stand to have on the coffee table. I'm anal, I know. But it's awesome!
  • I have kept up with my pre-wedding workout. For those of you who were worried about me ... don't be. I'm tough. Or at least I pretend to be.
  • Oh yes, I'm getting married soon. :o)

Do European Teams Read This?

I find it amazing how many hockey wives blog, post, comment, chat, status update, and tweet about the absolutely brutal ways of some European hockey teams.

Is there a legitimate reason you don't provide health care for your employees' families? (After you've flown us halfway across the world and won't let us leave - ever - or go on vacation. Training camp? Death sentence.)

What is your excuse for not paying us on time?

Why do you stick us in a dungeon with shoddy internet and no control over our thermostat?

When are you going to get your shit together and actually do something productive?

These are just a few of my concerns. I forgot to mention that you still use that little language barrier thing to say "I no understand English too good" when we ask for things. Except that you then forget (again) to mention that you've been running this organization for 30 plus years and your main purpose is to find great import players to boost ticket sales, sponsorship, and recognition for your team. Did you realize most of these import players are Canadian and American? Therefore 9 out of 10 times English is their main language?

Yet we still head over sometime in August. The money is good. The sites are unbelievable when compared to a country just over 200 years old. {This is no real knock on the U.S. of A. my friends. Ever been to Charleston? Heaven.} But I can't help but wonder whether, after all this time, European teams just do not care about what we want need. Like a steady pay check (some of us have bills to pay back home), or reimbursement for our luggage (because packing for 8 months really does mean extra baggage fees and that's a legitimate business expense every other time).

Maybe our husbands just don't say these things. It is a job they love and they feel so fortunate to keep playing this childhood game well into almost-middle-age. Thus making it difficult for them to really asses the damage sometimes.

Or I think we're just being ignored. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Hilton's stalker pleads not guilty to violating restraining order

A man who was accused of stalking Paris Hilton has pleaded not guilty to violating his restraining order after he was arrested outside the heiress' Malibu home.

James Brian Rainford, 36, who was supposed to stay at least 200 yards away from the star pleaded not guilty before a judge at a Van Nuys, California courtroom where he was accused.

It is the third Hilton-related run-in with the law Rainford has had this year, reports Radar Online.

In January, the Los Angeles man pleaded no contest to trespassing at the reality star's Hollywood Hills home, and he also pleaded no contest to battery after attacking Hilton's now ex, Cy Waits outside a court in April.

He was released from custody after serving 24 days of a 227-day sentence.

“Transformers” helps Paramount become first studio to $1B

This was a good weekend for the Hollywood studios, ever-vigilant stewards of the loudest US export after arms shipments. As cinematic tub-thumping goes, the Independence Day holiday weekend is a highly visible platform from which the studios can fire their patriotic cannons and declare to filmgoers across the nation, "Hey the economy may still suck and Tiger isn't winning at golf any more, but it's OK – Shia will save you."

Mr LaBeouf is the winsome human face of the Transformers franchise, helmed by Michael Bay. They used to call Will Smith Mr Fourth of July, but now that Smith has taken his megastar wattage off to a distant pocket of deep space to revive some ailing galaxy, it's up to Bay to thrill US audiences over the 4 July weekend. Smith, who has kept a low profile of late and will next be seen in Columbia's May 2012 release of Men in Black III, was fantastic at getting bums on seats over this holiday weekend, but Bay is no slouch, either. His first two Transformers movies opened on or around the 4 July holiday. His latest – Transformers: Dark of the Moon – one has just rewritten the record books.

It seems US multiplex audiences have an insatiable appetite for exploding buildings and massive robots that like to atomise whatever else is still standing after the buildings have exploded. Dark of the Moon certainly exploded at the box office. Its $97.5m haul from Friday to Sunday set a new Independence Day weekend record. That figure climbs to $116.4m when the weekend includes Monday. Factor in the grosses since the movie opened for previews last Tuesday night and you've got a domestic total of $181.1m. Add in the $217.9m overseas and Paramount has brought in $399m.

Not bad for less than a week's work, even though the movie cost around $195m (£60.5m) to make and who-knows-how-much more for marketing – let's be conservative and say $80m, because those publicity tours and world premieres in Russia don't come cheap. Transformers 3 had to perform and it did. Indeed, the marketing people took to their task with such ferocity that your average moviegoer could be forgiven for thinking Shia and the robots were the only show in town. The bad news about all this is there will almost certainly be a sequel, though Shia will be absent.

Speaking of eternal franchises, Disney's fourth Pirates of the Caribbean pic, On Stranger Tides, crossed $1bn at the global box office last week. Only six other movies have done this, so regardless of the movie's almost total lack of charm, originality or winning performances, it is a remarkable effort. This would be a good time for Jerry Bruckheimer's swashbuckling behemoth to survey all before it, recognise it's dominance and sail off into the sunset. That sounds like a happy ending to me.

You may agree with me that the conflict that gave Independence Day its name is ancient history and nobody cares about history when there are sausages to grill. I'd argue that it's high time to change the name. In movie terms, Independence Day is a misnomer because independent cinema is generally overlooked at this time. They should call it Another Movie Tentpole Smash weekend instead. That said, there are two independent movies in the current top 10 and both are doing well, albeit on a much more modest scale.

The reunion of Tom Hanks and his Charlie Wilson's War co-star Julia Roberts for Larry Crowne was hailed as an event in some circles. Well, in the circles that made the movie; the other circles were too busy watching Transformers. However the rom-com opened in fourth place on $15.7m. It was a solid launch, given that the movie cost Vendome Pictures and Playtone Productions (of which Hanks is a partner) roughly $30m to make. Larry Crowne will do well on TV, DVD and video on demand, etc, and it's also been licensed to leading independent international distributors.

The other indie is Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris, which after seven weekends in release stands at $34.5m and is comfortably his biggest hit since Hannah and her Sisters back in February 1986. Back then Shia LaBeouf wasn't born, people had still forgotten about the US war of independence and it would be two more years before we'd see Tom Hanks in Big and Julia Roberts in Mystic Pizza. Hats off to Allen – a historic franchise in-and-of himself.

North American top 10, 1-4 July 2011

1. Transformers: Dark of the Moon, $116.4m. Total: $181.1m.

2. Cars 2, $32.1m. Total: $123m

3. Bad Teacher, $17.6m. Total: $63m

4. Larry Crowne, $15.7m

5. Super 8, $9.5m. Total: $110.1m

6. Monte Carlo, $8.8m

7. Green Lantern, $7.9m. Total: $103.7m

8. Mr Popper's Penguins, $6.9m. Total: $51.9m

9. Bridesmaids, $4.2m. Total: $153.8m

10. Midnight in Paris, $4.3m. Total: $34.5m
