Paris Hilton may have been a staple of reality television almost since its inception, but when her new Oxygen show The World According to Paris premieres on June 1, even she will be entering new territory. "There's a lot of things in the show that I'm like, 'Oh my God, I cannot believe I'm going to allow this on television,'" she told TV Guide Magazine at the premiere party on May 17.
For the girl who has always wanted to show her fans a picture of perfection, airing her more vulnerable moments, including arguments with boyfriend Cy Waits, was not an easy decision for Hilton. "We shot that a few months ago and watching it back in the editing room I was like, 'Everything's perfect now, do I really want to relive this on television?'" says Hilton. "Years ago I would have been like, 'No way.' The BFF shows, all of that was about being perfect. But life's not perfect, people have ups and downs, and I want to show that and be relatable. I'm just like anyone else."
Also opening herself up to the cameras like never before is Hilton's friend and the ex-wife of Charlie Sheen, Brooke Mueller, who was notably absent from the premiere. "She's getting help right now and she's been going through struggles. I don't think this is the right environment for her, so I'm actually glad she's not here," said Hilton. "I pray for her every day and I wish her the best."
Tough times aside, Hilton says viewers will see her at her happiest and can expect tons of laughs as well. "The World According to Paris is my world. It's exciting, it's fun, it's unpredictable and you never know what's going to happen," she says. "I really live life to the fullest. People are going to go through a journey with me and I'm excited for people to see it!"
