May 22 (Bloomberg) -- Los Angeles police are holding a suspect in the March 31 beating of a San Francisco Giants fan after a Major League Baseball game at Dodger Stadium.
Two search warrants executed this morning at an apartment building and a home in the Rampart area of Los Angeles resulted in the suspect being taken into custody, police said.
Several other people were detained for questioning and evidence was seized, the Los Angeles Police Department said in an e-mailed statement. The suspect hasn't been identified.
"Northeast Area detectives got the break they needed when, late last week, information from a law-enforcement source allowed detectives to accelerate their investigation and focus on the suspect taken into custody this morning," the statement said.
Bryan Stow, a 42-year-old paramedic from Santa Cruz, California, was left in a medically induced coma with a fractured skull after being attacked in a Dodgers car park following the home team's 2-1 win over the Giants on March 31.
Stow wore Giants gear, while two assailants wore Dodgers apparel. The second assailant remains at large, police said.
Stow was transferred from Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center to San Francisco General Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition, doctors said last week.
