Alicia Silverstone Biography

Alicia Silverstone was born on October 4, 1976 at San Francisco, California to the couple of Monty Silverstone, a real estate investor and Didi Silverstone a former flight attendant. She has got a sister named Davit Silverstone and brother Kezi who is a rock singer. As a child she was brought up in England and having a Jewish up-bringing in the San Francisco bay area. Alicia Silverstone got into modeling with a series of swimsuit shots at the tender age of six years. The photographer was her dad then. After nine years the teenager got many commercials of her own.

She was a blonde bombshell on-screen due to her natural charming charisma combined with her innocence. She then turned to acting. She got a role in the movie 'McBain' in the year 1991 and was followed by a guest appearance on TV’s 'The Wonder Years' in the year 1992. The male viewers were totally overwhelmed with joy when she erupted on the big screen. Alicia's early professional ventures also include a Domino's Pizza commercial. She then made her stage debut at the Met Theatre playing a cocaine addict in 'Carol's Eve' in Los Angeles but her real big break came in the year 1993 where she got the lead role in the film, 'The Crush' which also starred Cary Elwes. This made her appear in three Aerosmith music videos later which really boosted her popularity and confidence. Then she went on to acquire roles in a couple of TV movies alongside recognizable actors such as Raquel Welch and Tyne Daly. She finally found worldwide recognition and fame starring as Cher in the hit sitcom, 'Clueless' after a series of moderately successful movies like 'Judith Krantz’s Torch Song', 'Scattered Dreams' in 1993 and 'The Cool and the Crazy' in 1994. She also appeared in the successful Aerosmith videos 'Cryin', 'Amazing and Crazy' (a MTV All-Time Favorite) and this made Silverstone transfer back to the big screen. The year of 1995 was a big year for the talented actress with roles in 'Hideaway', 'Le Nouveau Monde', 'True Crime', 'The Babysitter'. She repeatedly turned down her role in 'The Babysitter' until all nudity was removed from the script because she was very adamant about her no nudity policy in her films. For 'Clueless' she achieved a National Board of Review Outstanding Newcomer award, an American Comedy Award and two MTV movie awards.

Then Columbia Pictures went onto sign a multi-million dollar deal with Alicia giving her the opportunity to produce several films beginning with the 'Excess Baggage' which also starred Alicia herself. The name of her production company is First Kiss Productions. But the response of this film was poor at the box office. Then she starred in 'Batman and Robin' in 1997 but she found the role less challenging than she would have liked. This film also did not work out for her but with 'Blast from the Past' (1999) and a singing and dancing debut in 'Love’s Labors Lost' in the year 2000 the actress was again making headlines for an off-camera affair with her director although this affair was denied by each of them. She also starred in 'Stand By Your Man' which Silverstone co-produced, and 'Breakers'.

Alicia has always been a down to earth woman with a strong willpower and hopes to remain like this in her near future.
