Patti Stanger has apologized for saying that gay men are incapable of monogamous relationships on a Bravo talk show Sunday.
“I am so sorry. I did not mean to offend anyone with my comments last night on ‘Watch What Happens Live,’” she said in a statement to GLAAD.
“The Millionaire Matchmaker” told a gay male caller he could maintain an open relationship because “there is no curbing gay men,” she said.
She also told another gay caller it was a “compliment” that she thought he was straight.
Host Andy Cohen looked a tad shocked during the segment, but has not publicly addressed her comments.
Bravo, however, did not back Stanger. The network said in a statement, “Bravo regrets the comments expressed by Patti Stanger. ... Her comments are not representative of the network’s beliefs and opinions. We apologize for the offense it caused.”
During her appearance, Stanger also said that “Jewish men lie.” She also told smart women they should “dumb it down” to get a man in a recent interview. Stanger has not addressed either of those comments.
Stanger appeared on HLN’s “The Joy Behar Show,” where she claimed that her monogamy comments were specific to gay men in Los Angeles. Watch that segment below.
