Holiday Recap

Christmas just flew right by for Nikki and I. It just came and went so quickly for us that we barely got the Christmas cards out on time, and we wrapped the presents on Christmas Eve. I didn't go out of my way to wish a Merry Christmas to many of my readers and readees on Blogger, or Facebook for that matter. I do apologize, but what the heck...? I turn around and the holiday's all over!

The kids took part in a play on Christmas Eve, at the local church:

Savannah, changing into angel garb.

Now it's Skylar's turn.

Sarah is playing Mary (in blue!). You can see Skylar on the extreme right, and Savannah next to her.

Sarah, errr, Mary... holding "Baby Jesus."

Anyway, as for our Christmas, we did get a few things for the kids, but they would've been somewhat underwhelmed, as compared to previous years. However, we were blessed by the generosity of friends and neighbors here in Tucson. They ended up having plenty of gifts. Behold!

"Ahhhh... freak out!"

What girl doesn't love shoes?

Savannah got a sock puppet.

Skylar got a Pillow Pet. It's a pillow, and a stuffed animal!

Sarah with her new stuffed dino.

Skylar amidst a sea of wrapping paper, holding her cars. She loves those things.

Of course, I had to play cars too.

I got my sweetheart a Snuggie!

Cuddly Snuggie.

She also got a blender! (I can use it too, hehe.)

As for me, I got a bustier (which I have to lose some weight to wear), a $20 Taco Bell gift card (my baby knows me, hehe), some yummy candy, and a cute stuffed owl. She also gave me a big homemade card. Nikki's homemade cards kick the store-bought cards' asses! The things she writes in them just melt my heart.

The rest of the day was nothing eventful. Our families are in New York and Michigan, so there'll be no visiting for the holidays anytime soon. The kids played with their toys for two hours and then asked to watch TV. They veg out in front of the boob tube way too much, so we told them "no."

A special friend has joined us in Tucson for a few weeks. That'll be the gist of my next entry, but I'll just say here that we value her friendship very much, and we really click. The last time I stayed up talking with anyone until 1 AM, was with Nikki. Now I get to stay up with Nikki and our new friend! We're already dreading her going back to Ohio in a few days.

The New Year is but a few hours away. I wish everyone a Happy New Year, and please be careful if you're going out tonight.

Exploring Sexuality

My daughter, Sarah... has a girlfriend. Yes, a girlfriend girlfriend.

Well, as much as someone can have a significant other when they're almost 12 years old (her birthday is in two weeks!). Her girlfriend's name is Tyne (I think I spelled it right), and she lives in our apartment complex. She's been friends to both our daughters (Sarah and Savannah) for the past few months. She's nine years old, and has been very forthcoming, so to speak, of letting people know that she's bisexual. Now, believe me, I'm all for letting people be whoever the heck the are... but something about this girl doesn't sit right with me.

Two weeks ago, Amy and her two kids, Rachel and Zoey came over. Lori and her family came by an hour or so later. At the playground, Tyne was reportedly talking about sex toys and such. Lori's son came back and told us. Sarah and Rachel both had a talking to. It was this big thing, he said/she said/she said. I later found out that Tyne has a crush on Rachel. (Amy, if you are reading this, shhhh!)

Last night, Sarah came in late. Our rule is that once the lights come on in the complex, the kids come home. Sarah came inside after the lights came on, and asked if Tyne could come in. I didn't see any reason why, and I was going to start cooking dinner soon, so I told her no. She went back outside. I got up after a minute and looked out the door. She was gone. I told Nikki, and I agreed that she should be grounded, and we'd go look and/or yell for her if she wasn't home for dinner.

Sarah came back a half an hour later. I dutifully informed her that she was grounded the next day for coming in late. "Okay." She asked if Nikki was up, to which I told her I didn't know. After she knocked on our bedroom door a few times, I told her that if she wasn't answering, she may indeed be taking a nap. She told me, "Okay." She sat down to watch TV and she didn't say another word.

Nikki got up to have some dinner with us, and Sarah immediately started writing something on a piece of paper. She handed it to Nikki, who then told Sarah that she was the one who said she would be grounded. I immediately took offense, as Sarah has a history of trying to pit one parent against the other, or go around one parent and going to another. Nikki told me that wasn't the case, and she would relay what was written... after dinner. Sarah didn't want her sisters to know, and she was rather embarrassed.

Sarah asked Tyne out (like they could actually go anywhere), and Tyne said yes. Tyne said she loves Sarah.

I think Tyne is a player. Probably a more innocent nine-year-old version of a player, but a player nonetheless. I don't trust her. Tyne wants Sarah to sleep over. Nikki and I are like, nooooo wayyy! Who knows what kind of sex toys she'll pull out of the closet. Ha! It's funny, but at the same time... ummm, not funny. This is my daughter here.

Anyway, after being debriefed by Nikki, I came back out to the living room, hugged Sarah, gave her a kiss on the forehead, and told her I loved her.

Sarah later asked Nikki if I only did that because she likes a girl. Hello??? I always tell her I love her. And what's with this not talking to me? Everything has to be relayed lately.

For the record, no... I do not love my daughter more because she likes a girl, or is dating a girl, sort of. I think that maybe Sarah feels a bit more free to be herself, and to explore her sexuality, ahem... on a VERY limited basis, mind you. She has two lesbian moms, two transgender friends, and their moms, who are transgender, bisexual, and a few straight people thrown in there (ha ha!). Does she feel that she should be a lesbian as well? I sincerely doubt that. There are so many people out there who think that a child being raised by gay parents will also be gay. Pure hogwash and cow manure. But yes, I do feel that she feels more safe in telling us she likes a girl, and it's probably easier for her to admit it to herself as well. She knows that nothing is wrong with being gay.

That said, danger lies on both sides of the fence. Sarah is so sensitive. I hope this girl doesn't try to break her heart. I know where she lives, after all.  ;)

Poll: Would You Be Interested In a Non-Profit Insurance to Help Pay For GRS?

I've never fooled around with polls on my blog. I don't think I ever had a reason to. However, my friend Page has a new project. She's trying to create a health insurance (of sorts) to help pay for Gender Reassignment Surgery. As many reading this probably know, health coverage for GRS is very scarce in the US and Australia, as well as other countries. The cost of this surgery can run someone from 20 to 30K, or perhaps more. Many people simply don't have the money to pay for it, leaving them trapped in a body that they don't feel is their own. This can lead to depression, alcohol and drug use (anything to numb the pain and dysphoria), and even suicide.

Page is attending a university, and her professors say this is possible. She also has an ally who is a lawyer, and he's been advising her. She's been in the process of writing grant proposals and looking for donations from corporations, as well as certain individuals who may just have the motivation and money to help fund this project. She wants to get GRS paid in full (including plane and hotel costs, if possible), but we all know that this surgery is quite a bit of money for even just one such transgendered individual.

I didn't use the poll gadget on Blogger, since I wanted to create a multi-question survey. I used Quibblo to create the survey below. Hopefully this will turn out the way I envision, as far as functionality.

This survey was created to give Page and I a good idea of how many people want this surgery, where they live, their level of education and income, and how far along they are in regards to their transition. Please answer as truthfully as possible, and please only take the survey if you are a pre-op transsexual, or filling it out in the behalf of a pre-op ts!

After previewing this, I see that some of the answers and questions have to be "moused over" to see in their totality. For example, the first question has the first answer missing, until you move the mouse into the answer window. It took some mouse jiggling for me to get all the answers to come up.

Funny Video Friday: Charles Manson's Epic Question

Charles Manson. Insane psychopath! There are some that don't think so. He actually never killed anyone. He was accused of orchestrating peoples' deaths. "Charlie told me to." He's continually made a name for himself (more than he already had) with his theatrics and philosophy. For instance, in this video, he just seems totally bonkers. He's really imitating the judicial system and implying that their questions about his guilt are gibberish. He believes in ATWA, which stands for Air Trees Water Animals, as well as All The Way Alive. No, I am not a Manson supporter. I merely have an open mind, and I think there's more to him than meets the eye. Like Hitler, he may be a brilliant mind that has done nothing brilliant. Who knows?

Enough serious talk, this video is funny, and shouldn't take you as long to watch as this was to read.

Breastholds (Or: The Return of My Boobs Are Sore!)

You know, thresholds, breasts... I, uhhh, whatever.

I seem to have crossed some kind of threshold with the size of my breasts. As mentioned in this post, they have been growing... again! It's been over seven years since I started hormones, and I'm still getting spurts of growth. My last spurt was in January, 2010. That was due to my starting a medication called Provera, a progesterone supplement. I had another big spurt before that in September, 2009. This occurred right after I increased my Estradiol, an estrogen supplement. I've since stopped taking the Provera, and I'm on the same dose of Estradiol that I was on back then. So, why the increase?

My breasts are all sore and warm. Very sensitive there. And bigger! I keep wondering why and how, but then tell myself not to look a gift horse in the mouth.

What's interesting is the reactions from people that I get now. Particularly men. Let me just say right now that I don't have the slightest attraction towards men. They can never be in the same universe for me as a sexy, curvy woman. But while getting attention from men can seem kind of creepy to me (the older, the more creepy), it is rather reaffirming. I've seem to have passed a threshold (breasthold!), and now men are staring at me. A LOT. Particular in one area, just south of my face. One day, not much. The next, all of a sudden I have all these fans!

Too bad none of them are women. Oh, that's right, I'm engaged to the love of my life. D'oh!  ;)

Speaking of which, I wanted to post some kind of comparison on here, but this is not an adult-only blog, and Nikki would kill me in any case. But I just took in a picture in a "classic" outfit. This is a nightgown that looks like, well... a gown. In late 2005, I took a couple photos wearing it:

Well, look now:

I've come a long way, baby!

Diarrhea of the Mouth

I don't know what's up, but Nikki has been going crazy lately, saying very non sequitur type of things to people. People we don't even know. And since she's seen me getting rather embarrassed by such things, she's doing it even more.

It started in Wal-Mart. I suppose she was bored and tired. She congratulated a man on his way out, for his selection of Tide detergent. He said, "What?" She repeated it, and he looked exasperated. He said, "Whatever," and walked out. I was trying to get away at that point, but Nikki had my arm and wouldn't let go.

The other day, she made two ladies laugh at her. We were in the car at a stop light. I was caressing Nikki's cheek. I'm often affectionate like this with my sweetie. But there was a woman in the lane next to us, just dead-on staring. As comfortable as we are with each other, we forget that others may be set aback by seeing two women in love. I told her that a woman over there was looking at us. Nikki thought the window was closed. (That's her story anyway.) She looked at the woman and said, plain as day, "I'm her baby."

The woman laughed. It was a twittering kind of laugh. Naturally, we both just started laughing also. But we were stuck at the light, and the lady was still next to us. Nikki took a nearby sweatshirt and covered her head with it. Unfortunately for me, I was driving, so I couldn't do this. I just looked away and continued to laugh. Finally the light turned green and I could get out of there!

Later on, we were in a grocery store, and Nikki randomly blurted out, "People. I eat them." This older lady who was passing by started laughing her ass off. I ducked down a nearby aisle. I mean, really now. Nikki says she eats people.

Short of knocking her unconscious, what can I do about this? She's driving me nuts, ha ha!

Geocaching II

We went geocaching again last Sunday (see here for the first expedition, as well as an explanation of what geocaching is). The whole family came this time. We went after three caches, and we found them all. Read on...

Our first cache was nearby in the Safeway parking lot. That's all we knew. I parked in front and let my GPS tell me where to go. We soon learned that the cache was behind the store. We looked behind a tall metal cabinet thingie and found the skeletal remains of a bird. No picture for this one, sorry! The cache turned out to be underneath a metal plate on a lightpost. Nikki saw that it was loose and pulled it upwards. We found a little sardine tin underneath. We took some items and left some of our items, tiny as they were. They had to be, this thing was tiny. I forgot what the items were, sorry.

We got back in the car and headed for the next one. (I would just walk but everyone else gets tired quicker than I do.) This one was in a trail behind a bunch of houses. We found it pretty quickly under a tree. There was what looked like a birdhouse, but upon closer inspection, it most definitely was not. Observe:

The owner of this cache had built the semi-birdhouse himself. That's really neat! I also loved the way the "chest o' trinkets" looked, as well as the log book. Here's a picture of me holding both.

We also found our first travel bug in this cache. A travel bug is a trackable dog tag that you can place in a cache. It's usually attached to an item in some way. This allows you to track your item online. The item becomes a hitchhiker that is carried from cache to cache (or person to person) in the real world and you can follow its progress online. The one we found was in a small plastic bag with a lego.

This travel bug is "racing" with another travel bug. Whichever one goes the most miles wins. They both started in the U.K.! The travel bug with the yellow lego is till in the U.K. This red one made it to Florida, then up to Canada, back down to New Mexico, and ended up in Arizona - first partway up Mount Lemmon, and now down here near us. What a trip! The unfortuante thing is, our car is not so good. Otherwise we'd bring it at least 30 miles or something. I'll have to drop it off somewhere else locally. Maybe the next geocacher can do right by it.

Before we headed to the next cache, we decided to take a few miscellaneous pics.

The kiddos!

I really love this picture of me and my snookums!

Our last cache was a really tricky one. It was located by the Pantano Wash, but farther south. Luckily for us, we didn't have do down in the wash, like last time. We looked so long for this damn thing. All that was around were little bushes and dirt. And my GPS was telling me I was 0.0 feet from the cache coordinates! Nikki and the kids kept kicking this log around, picking it up and putting it down, kicking it, etc. I picked it up...

The sun was in our eyes.

Wow! This guy carved a hole in the log and jammed an altoids tin into it! There wasn't much inside since it was so small. And no wonder the coordinates were off. They were moving the log from it's original location, so when I was standing there, it was somewhere else. Geez...

We took some time to fool around and climb a tree. I'm a kid at heart, so I had to get in on the fun.  ;)

Yayyyyy!

Sarah, get that thing out of your mouth!

This is really good picture of Sarah.

"Honey, take the picture! Can't... hold on... much... longer...!"

We took the long way around (by mistake) when going back to the car. Skylar was really tired. She kept stopping and sitting down on the sidewalk. I wanted to hit some more caches, but we had to call it a day.

I'm considering starting another blog just to cover our geocaching exploits. We'll see...

Funny Video Friday: Crows vs Cat vs Cat Street Fight

Yes, FVF is back! Did anyone miss it? Probably not.

This video (and a few others) inspired me to start these posts up again. This had me laughing hysterically! I had to keep rewinding the video because of the tears filling up my eyes. You should have heard me laughing. It made me laugh even more!

First of all, the soundtrack was perfect. It's from the Predator movies. They synchronized it with the action excellently. It's really funny to see it playing over cats and birds fighting.

Second of all, that poor cat! I felt bad but I was laughing my ass off at the same time. The crow pulls his tail and the other cat jumps him! He doesn't know how to watch them all at once. Poor thing, but ha ha ha!!! I like to think that he's okay and all the naughty "predators" either got bored or got theirs!

P.S. Geocaching update will be posted tomorrow!

Snippets

I went to the eye doctor the other day, that one in Wal-Mart. I have a pair of very old glasses (from The Before Time, so they're not all pretty or anything) that are bent and not my prescription anymore. That's okay, because I hate wearing glasses and I only wear them around the house and such. So yes, I wear contacts... and I'm on my last pair. They are getting a pair of free samples in about two weeks to hold me over until I can purchase some amount of contacts.

Skylar says, 'imagigation' instead of 'imagination.' Imagi-gay-tion. I like it. Someone should give their LGBT blog or organization (organi-gay-tion?) a name like that. That would rock.

Christmas shopping is just about done. We didn't get that much for the girls, but they'll get other things from their family in New York (semi-useless but hey it's something). We're really short on funds and high on expenses lately. Thank goodness the electric bill went down to $138 because we're really not using the air conditioner anymore. That's still pretty high though. Geez.

I've been playing a lot of Return to Castle Wolfenstein lately. Well, not a lot compared to a gaming enthusiast or anything. I play every two or three days because I'm so busy with other things. Anyway, it's great fun. Your basic shoot-em-up game. Blow the hell out of Nazis, and then all of a sudden, they bring these undead things back to life. The game totally changes into scary mode after that. Then it's back to Nazis. Hmmm.

We went geocaching again (see here for our first two times). We didn't go to as many or for as long a time as I wanted. Nikki was tired, and so was Skylar. Oh well. Maybe we'll do better next weekend. I'll write about it in more detail in my next post.

A friend of mine (granted, Facebook friend but maybe soon more of a real life friend) is going to try to start a non-profit insurance company of sorts for transfolk seeking GRS. You would pay a certain amount per month and then a deductible, and the company would pay for the rest of the surgery. Naturally, there would be guidelines to follow, and only reputable doctors would be covered. To anyone reading this, what do you think? Is this feasible? What would be some pitfalls and complications, besides getting all the money together for this?

My feelings of depression are directly linked to the cold. It got cold a couple weeks ago (thirties in the morning, and fifties in the afternoon), and I had a few bouts of depression. Ugh, it sucks to suddenly feel so down. For the last five days or so, we've been getting a bit of a heat wave for December (a warm wave?). Now that's it's been upper forties in the morning, and mid to upper seventies in the afternoon, I've been feeling just fine. I guess Arizona is really good for me.

I'm sure many of you bloggers have gotten junk mail from Goofle AdWords. They'll give you $100 of free advertising. You only pay when someone clicks on your ad and goes to your site. Well, I set everything up, and made sure that we would not be going over the $100. Naturally, I made an ad for my blog. However, it's been a week and the ad is still "under review." Figures.

I talked to my dad the other day. He thinks I should get a construction job or go dig ditches. "They're always looking for people to dig ditches." Yeah, that would be a great environment for me. Throw a girly transwoman in with a bunch of macho men. If they didn't figure out I was born male, I'd still be in danger for being the only soft, curvy thing there. No thanks. Dad needs a reality check.

Oh, my boobs are sore... again! It's been over seven years since I started hormones. They're still growing! Is that unheard of or what? I'm not sure. But I'm pretty thrilled about it. They're all sore and warm. Awesome! In following tradition, we need another nice picture of cleavage.

I got a haircut over the weekend. I really love it! My hair can't be too long or I end up yanking it all out. Well, not all of it (!!!), but you know. It's now just under my shoulder and I have respectable bangs again. Yay!

That's it for today. Stay tuned for another geocaching report!
