Final Blast From the Past Entry! (3 Days to Go!)

Three days to go! I'm getting very excited to leave now.

Here it is, my final "blast from the past" entry! I'd like to thank my laser specialist, electrologist, therapist...

Other than that, not much to say. The laser treatments never got rid of the shadow (and hairs!) on my chin and upper lip. Electrolysis did that, about two years later. I miss the LITE meetings since moving to Michigan. My toe has been fine for years now (hehe). The Mis Behavin event that I mention at the end of this entry was fun indeed.

Unfortunately, I just stopped writing diary entries for myself. I just lost interest, I suppose. The next time I wrote, it was my first MySpace blog.

---------------------------------

I have a few days here in one entry. I'll start with Monday (5/19). I went to Barbara Ruggiero's to have my fourth laser hair removal session. I got a little extra work done for the same price. She did the chin and upper lip first on a slightly higher setting (37.5 joules), then did the whole face (including the chin and upper lip again) with 37 joules. It hurt a little less this time, probably because now there's less hair to absorb the heat. The soreness abated quicker also. I felt decent enough to walk into Taco Bell (still wearing makeup, a blouse, shorts and heels) to order some lunch.

Now to Tuesday (5/20). I was pretty hairy, but unable to shave. Despite that, I put on another tight, high-neckline shirt, shorts and heels, at Diana's place. (Is she getting sick of me yet?) We went to the LITE (Long Island Trans Experience) meeting together, at 7 PM. I saw Kat there, who I hadn't seen since RS Jones. She's post-op now, and recovering her eyesight since the operation in January. Her diabetes affected her somehow during the operation, and she went legally blind! That's so horrible, but I'm glad she's doing better. She has about 20/40 vision in each eye now. Anyway, I didn't speak much, as most of the talk was on SRS doctors and such. I have no experience there... yet! So it was a time to listen and absorb info. Then it was off to work. (Bleh...)
Now on to today (5/21). I had to go to the podiatrist to have my toe looked at. I had an ingrown toenail last Summer, and a few months ago, it felt overly sensitive to me even brushing it against anything. Last week I saw some pus coming out of it, so I decided to call to make an appointment. After some deliberation, I decided to take the nail polish off of all my toes. I wasn't sure, but I thought they may have to see the nail itself, and if they were to remove the polish at the office, they may rub hard and that would hurt! So to stay away from pain as much as possible (always a good idea), I de-polished them.

I went to the podiatrist's office wearing the same outfit as I did on Saturday night (only without huge breast forms!). She had to cut a bit off of the nail, which hurt for a second or two, and she prescribed an antibiotic. I asked her if I could wear any nail polish on that toe, and she said not for two weeks at least, and I have to keep a bandaid on it also. Ah well! On the way home, I put some gas in the car, dropped off my prescription, and got an egg salad bagel for lunch. Then sleepy time!

I have a few things to look forward to in the weeks ahead. A dentist appointment next week (it's so nice to enjoy visits to the dentist!), because this dental assistant, Dawn, will be there. I used to have a crush on her years back, and now she only fills in once in awhile. She hasn't seen the "new me," so to speak, so this should be fun! I already have a blouse in mind for the occasion, LOL...! It's a sleek blue gorgeous thing that I picked up from Express last week. After that, Makenna and I (and maybe others) are doing something on the 31st. There's a FemmeFever event at Mis Behavin (a bar) on June 12th (I'm trying to get the night off from work), and another TS meeting at Karen's house on June 19th. Fun fun fun!

I'm Getting a Tattoo!

Yes! On May 1st! I was originally going to get my port wine stain birthmark covered by the picture on the left, but I'll have to alter that a bit. Let me start at the beginning though.

In the beginning... it was bad enough that Amy was born with a physical sex that was at odds with her gender, but she also had this nasty birthmark. It covered most of her arm, all of her shoulder, and even some of her upper back and neck. Luckily, it stayed the same size as I grew, thus took up less room on my body. What a port wine stain is (and don't feel bad, I've met some doctors who don't know this!), is a whole crapload of tiny capillaries that continuously bleed, though the amount from each capillary is much less than half a drop of blood. If you were to look at my birthmark with a magnifying lens, you could see that it's made up of many many tiny red dots. People have always stared at me and made comments about my birthmark. So many people asked me if I had poison ivy, or got burned. I'm so sick of it. It used to look like this (Yes, I've cut the rest of the photo out because I was pre-hormones and my face looked so harsh. I was also sweating, which meant it was probably summer in my parents' house, as they never had any air conditioning):

(My arms haven't been that hairy for a long time now. Ugh.)

Back in 2003 to 2004, I had the birthmark lightened via a form of laser treatment called MultiLight. After six sessions, I couldn't get it to lighten any more than you can see below. It is such a noticeable difference though! Unfortunately, I have a few small scars because I told them to turn up the juice on my last session. The only result I got from that last session was scars. Anyway, I just took this pic...

After the sessions were over, that's when I started wanting a phoenix tattoo to cover it. I've always loved the symbolism of the phoenix, and just the plain look of the thing (the firebird version, that is). It stands for rebirth and renewal, among other things. What better symbol for a trans-person, who's undergoing a miraculous transformation into who they really are inside?

I cashed in my 401K to help move us to Arizona. I decided to keep a few hundred to myself for this tattoo. I went to the doctor a couple weeks ago, and he told me that covering it with a tattoo should work, but I'll probably have more bleeding than the average person (due to the capillaries already being "broken" inside the skin). He told me to stop taking my 81mg of aspirin for two weeks prior to the procedure. I take that to counteract the blood thickening effect of Estradiol in my system.

Nikki's father is friends with a tattoo artist who goes by the name of Happy, and is the owner of Happy Tats. When Nikki got her tattoo last week (see below), I showed him the illustration at the top of the screen, and he told me a few things. He said that yes, it would probably bleed a lot, and if it bled too much, he might have to switch to another area and come back to it once the bleeding stops. He said that it might fade quicker than a normal tattoo and need touch ups. He also said that yellows and oranges would not show over the tattoo, since it's a lighter color. That only left red and pink. I started thinking, "Well, what about blue flame?" He said that part of the blue flame would have to be yellow, in order to look realistic. That stumped me, but I thought later on that a phoenix is a magical creature. Realistic is nice for real-world things, but (as far as I know) a phoenix is mythical in nature. Besides, if he tattoos just outside the birthmark, he could put some yellow there, making the phoenix inside a hotter flame. When I got home, I opened Microsoft Paint and inverted the colors of the phoenix picture. It looks like this:

I like it. I want to take out those black spots and replace them with the silhouette of a female within the phoenix. A silhouette like this:

He said this tattoo will take four or five hours to complete. Nikki will probably be in and out, since that's a long time for anyone to sit around and watch someone poke a needle in someone's flesh. I want to bring my camera and have photos taken at various stages in the process. I am so excited! I'm not worried about the pain. After electrolysis and MultiLight, this shouldn't be too bad. The collarbone might make me wince a bit though. I just hope it comes out right, I don't bleed like a stuck pig, and that I can handle the itching and scabbing afterwards. It's such a big area. I would do it in stages, but we're moving in a month and a half. What's ironic is that I used to be so against tattoos. I was so straightlaced with everything. Getting away from my mother really helped me to not be a jerk. But I digress.

I want to show off the tattoos that Nikki got (also at Happy Tats), so before I sign off, here we go:

Nikki's first tattoo, on her right leg. She loves frogs, and this guy is a toughie!

Nikki got this one on her back to commemorate the twins that died due to a miscarriage back in 1999.

Also on her back. Each fairy is one of our daughters, and Nikki is the sunflower in the middle.

She had a stem put on the sunflower last week, since so many people would think it was a sun.

Nikki got this one on her left leg last week, to remember her father by, since we're moving 2000 miles away from him. Yes, he's a harley dude.

Thanks for reading, and let me know what you think of my upcoming tattoo!

The Rest of 2003 (Blast From the Past Entry)

After giving my parents my "coming out letter" (which you can read here), there are only a couple things that I can remember about the year of 2003. I continued laser hair removal and birthmark removal. I went for hair removal a total of six times, and as for birthmark removal, I believe four times. I stopped seeing progress with both, and I didn't want to pay for nothing. The laser hair removal had only affected my cheeks and neck. The upper lip and chin looked exactly the same to me. Some hairs fell out in those areas, but grew right back. The birthmark did lighten, to about half the intensity that it was previously. I'll have to get around to getting some before-and-after photos.

More importantly, I started hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in July of 2003. The endocrinologist I was seeing had not treated any transgender patients, but he was willing to learn, and he started networking with a few doctors who had done a lot of work with those who are transgendered. I remember looking up their names on the internet after the doctor had told me about them, and finding out about all the work they had done... but I can't remember their names now. I wish I had kept up with the diary. It would be really interesting to read my experiences when starting hormones, but I'll have to go from memory here.

My first change was felt mentally and emotionally. After a month or two, a wave of serenity and tranquility came over me. I remember thinking, "Is this what a woman feels like all the time? This is awesome." And oh boy, did the emotions come pouring out of me as well. I would cry over music videos and commercials. I had at least one full-on laughing fit a week. You know the kind where you start trying to say, "No no, stop stop, oh my stomach hurts! Ow ow! Ha ha ha!" I love those. Oh, and anger felt different too. Someone made an anti-semitic remark towards a Jewish friend of mine, and I picked up a heavy book and stood up from where I was sitting. He and some other friends I was with stopped me. What I was feeling seemed remarkably similar to a motherly, protective kind of anger.

The next change was my hair and skin, which both got softer and less oily. Before hormones, I would shower one morning, then the next morning, my hair was oily already. Ugh, I do not miss that! But then, I don't miss many pre-hormone conditions at all. Next, my body hair got finer and less prickly, and started growing in slower. I remember that my arm hair was unchanged. I had never shaved it before, so I decided to try it. Everyone was telling me, "No, don't do that, it'll grow back in thicker and all bristly!" I did it anyway. The arm hair took a week to grow back, and it was softer and finer than ever. Yay!

The last change was breast growth. This started just after two months on hormones, and kicked into high gear when my doctor upped my dose at the three-month mark. Oh, I was so ecstatic! I had to start wearing tight sports bras to smoosh them down. I didn't want to bother with wrapping them and what-not. I was so happy, though! I felt so content, so at peace with myself and my body... more than ever before. I remember thinking, "So this is what it feels like to be whole."

These photos are from January of 2004, at my second Auntie M's annual drag contest/dinner/dance. (Click here for my first one.) I don't remember many specifics from this event. Lorna, who I had met once before, was competing this time. She totally rocked! She should've won. Someone else who I wasn't really impressed with took the title. Bogus. Anyway, there was more dinner, more dancing, and I had a really good time. I felt more comfortable in my skin this time. I love this dress and I would love to wear it again, but I need somewhere to wear it to. I wasn't wearing the breast forms anymore. No electrolysis yet. But yes, this is my real hair... finally! I got it cut and styled on the same day, so this is the only time it looked like this. I kinda like it.

This was when I started to like photos of me. I think I look much better than in those older photos!

Lorna rocked. Period.

Lilly and I.

Lorna, some girl (not transgendered) whose name I forgot, and I.

This is a photo taken at Dee's apartment before the event.

Me again, duh.

Dancing and happy. Hoorah!

Attacked at 7-11 and Honey's Get-Together (Blast From the Past Entry)

I'm still sick. If I don't feel better by morning time, I'm going to call the doctor and ask him if he can put me on a higher antibiotic. This is getting old real fast. Nothing at all is new around here, so I'm going to flash back in time to another moldie oldie...

March 1st, 2003
----------------

At 4 am this morning, I had stopped at 7-11 (in guy mode) to get some taco sticks for myself (those things are yummy!), and coffee for two of my co-workers (I work the overnight shift). I saw a few black guys in the parking lot, but this is pretty normal. I got out my car and was heading for the front door. Suddenly, "Wham!" I actually thought I had run into something. I was hit so hard that I was in a daze. I turned to look, and I saw a very tall black man cursing and screaming at me. All I could think to do is say, "Why?" But I was so out of it at the time, I don't know if I said it loud enough for anyone to hear. He seemed to be walking away from me, so I got back in my car (walking, not running, so as not to get his attention), locked the door, and started it. I started backing out, and as I was doing so, he ran up and tried to open the door. Good thing I locked it! He kicked the door when he found he couldn't get in. I left and went back to my job. I returned with the security guard on duty, so we could identify him to the police, but he and his friends had already left. I don't know why he hit me. Either he thought I was someone else, he was high on something, or he just said, "I'm going to hit the next white guy I see. Oh, there's one now!" People like this make others look bad. It's always the few bad apples that have to ruin it for everyone else.

Tonight was a pretty fun night. I went to Dee's to get ready, and this time, makeup and hair was a breeze. I was wearing a ruffly blue and white blouse, and a swishy black skirt. Andi was supposed to meet us at Dee's place also, and the three of us were going to meet Cecile at Popei's (a great seafood restaurant) for dinner. She was supposed to show up at 6:15 to 6:30 PM, but 7:30 rolled around, and no Andi. No answer on the cellphone either. So, while we were a little concerned, we had to leave so we could meet Cecile by 8 PM. We put a printout with directions to Popei's (via mapquest.com) on Dee's door for Andi to find. Without too much trouble, we found the restaurant. While we were waiting for a table, Cecile showed up. She's always such a joy to be around. Andi surprised us by walking in not long afterwards. It turns out she left late and forgot her cellphone.

Vanessa and I

We had a nice dinner and gabbed quite a bit. I had pasta with shrimp, crabmeat and scallops. Deeeelicious! They give you a lot too. I made two more meals out of it at home. After eating, we all caravanned over to Honey's, which was only 1.5 miles away.

This turned out to be the biggest turnout so far, with 11 girls, including myself. The roll call: me, Dee, Andi, Cecile, Michelle (her first time out since December, and she's Cecile's girlfriend, and yes she made it after all), Chrissy, Andrea, Carmen, Vanessa (my genetic girl ex-girlfriend... I finally got her to join us again), Arianna (new girl... I love that name!), and Lorna. Lorna was quite a pleasant surprise. I had heard a lot about her from the other girls, and I saw her photos all over the FemmeFever group site. She was just as cute and nice as I had heard, and extremely passable.

Me, Andi and Lorna

It was at Honey's that I started getting a headache from my wig. It was putting pressure on where I was hit. It was that soft spot at the temple. A few aspirins fixed that, though. I was a little disappointed that nobody wanted to dance. Out of 11 girls, only Carmen, Vanessa and I danced. Oh well. I requested the song, "Beautiful' by Christina Aguilera, and I dedicated it to all the girls there. I think it's the perfect song for us t-girls. We're beautiful and nobody can bring us down. I took a bunch of photos and sent them out. Vanessa and I consoled Carmen, as she was a little upset that nobody seemed to be talking to her. But then, she wasn't talking to anybody either. I'm glad I'm finally conquering this shyness thing at 32. Carmen is 57 and it's ruling her life.

I had to include this wacky photo: Vanessa making a crazy face, Cecile looking at her, and Michelle trying for a serious model look. Ha ha!

I'll tag on my hair removal session to this entry, since it was only two days later. This was my second session. It still hurt like the dickens (does anybody say that anymore?), but there was a little less pain than the first time. The first time, the neck was what hurt the most. Since the neck is missing a lot of hair, this time it was the chin that hurt the most. Barbara Ruggiero (the nurse who does the procedure) also did a patch test on a small section of my birthmark, since I want that done also. It turned to my regular skin color after the laser hit it, then it came back colored brown a few minutes later. Barbara told me that this was due to the veins coagulating. Port wine stains like I have, are caused by tiny veins that feed blood continually into the skin. So with any luck, the brown will fade away, and the birthmark will either be less red, or completely gone... regular skin! I definitely hope so.

Dentist Appointment (Blast From the Past Entry)

I was laughing pretty hard while typing this one in from my old chicken scratched looseleaf paper. I'm still left wondering if this dental assistant was attracted to me, or if it was more like being mock-accused of liking the ugliest student in class...?

February 19th, 2003
--------------------

I had to go to the dreaded dentist again this morning, to get a root canal. Of course, this called for duplex mode* again. I wore a tight silver v-neck top, capri jeans, shiny mary jane flats, and tan panyhose (which was very visible down by by my feet, because of the short pants and the shoes. Of course, I wore everything makeup-wise besides lipstick or lipgloss (not a good idea when going to the dentist!), namely blue eyeshadow, black eyeliner, mascara, and blush. I even had blue nail polish on.

I found out that I had to pay $33 out of my own pocket to pay for the sweet air! Unbeknownst to me, all insurances had stopped covering this years ago, and Dr. Kuo had not been charging me for it. Unfortunately, Dr. Kuo had left the dental group, for reasons undisclosed to me (maybe this was one of the reasons). Maybe I should try to track down Dr. Kuo. I just can't get by without that sweet air, so I paid the stinking $33. This doctor wasn't really monitoring the ratio of sweet air vs. regular air, so I ended up really tripping on it more than ever. That can be good or bad, depending on your outlook. More trippy, but less safe. Thirty minutes after I left the office, I was still feeling the effects of it. I actually almost slammed into the back of someone, because they had stopped a little short and I wasn't paying attention.

Anyway, they didn't do a root canal, because the dentist thought I could get away with having a filling done. At the time of this writing (a week later), I think not, because it's still aching.

One of the other women in the office was teasing the dental assistant, who was taking x-rays of my tooth and setting things up for the dentist. She was having trouble getting that cardboard thingie in my mouth correctly. They had to do it three times, and the third time was done by the teasing lady. She said to the assistant that she was messing up because she was, and I quote, "staring into those baby blues." Hello, my eyes are hazel! Then when they moved me into another room (the room that I was put in didn't have the hookup for the sweet air), the assistant didn't have the lights turned on, so that same woman flipped them on and made some joke about "mood lighting." LOL! This is pretty damn funny. Either:

1) That other lady was just saying stupid stuff for no reason,

2) The assistant did not like my looks at all (remember I'm wearing makeup and women's clothes), and the other lady was teasing her in a sarcastic way, or,

3) The assistant was actually attracted to me and she was being teased about it.

If it was number three, then that's pretty cool that an older woman would be attracted to a younger man looking feminine.

After my near-miss on the road (well, as George Carlin says, it should be called a near-hit, since a near-miss would be like, "Oops! I hit you, but I almost missed!"), I went to the gas station, and then to the bank to cash a check. I was just showing off my looks as usual, but nothing remarkable happened.

I'm looking forward to Monday (February 24th), since I'll be in girl mode for both my therapy appointment and lunch with Carmen (though Carmen will be in guy mode). Then I have Honey's to look forward to on March 1st. I put out a group email to get some of the girls together. I then have my Dungeons & Dragons group on Sunday, March 2nd (hopefully), and my second appointment for facial hair removal on Monday, March 3rd. Yes, I'm actually looking forward to that, even though it hurt so much the first time. I just want the hair gone!

* "Duplex mode" is a term I made up to signify less-than-complete girl-mode. I may have worn women's clothing with some makeup but not all, and maybe a wig or maybe not. So I may have had beard shadow and/or short hair, breast forms or not. Note that if I dress like this now, I would still look fine, since I have no shadow on my face, my natural hair is long, and my natural breasts are... well, breasts. Back then, well... I either looked stupid or just weird, take your pick. For some reason, I liked to shock people at the time. Go figure.

The Lonely Loner

I think my cold *might* be going away. I don't want it to hear me, so let's change the subject.

Mosquitoes are out in droves! The kids have gotten bit up really bad, and I got bit four times just walking to my car. Damn things. I really think there aren't enough blood-filled creatures out there for all these mosquitoes (I don't see as many people outside once evening comes). So hopefully they'll die off soon. Okay, as I'm writing this, Nikki just killed four of them, and I swatted one dead right in front of my face. Ugh!

Anyway, I just realized something about myself. I'm a loner who gets lonely with nobody around. Makes no sense? Let me describe it this way. I grew up doing my own thing. I spent a lot of time with just me, myself, and I. But I liked it when people were in the house. If everyone went out without me, I got lonely. It was just too quiet. Fast forward to present day. About a year ago, Nicky and our two older kids had to leave for 10 days without Skylar and I. Evidently, a small child doesn't work in keeping me from being lonely. This can extend to virtual gaming worlds. A decade ago, I was immersed in (actually, more like obsessed with) the original Everquest MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, and yes, I know that by heart). I never liked grouping with others. This made gameplay difficult for me past the beginning levels, since the game was designed for grouping. I preferred to play solo... with other people around. I could help those in need, talk to whoever, and then go back to doing my own thing. I just liked the fact that there were other people playing nearby. If I was in an area with nobody around, I would go to where I saw people doing this and that, and I would play there. Ain't I strange?

I was typing my old diary entry about my first hair removal appointment, and strangely enough, I felt a bit of nostalgia when typing in what happened at the end. Sure, I missed Barbara, the nurse who ran the machine, and I missed the hairs going away. But how strange that I would miss hiding in my room. I think it was a few things. Number one, I was able to "get away" with having laser hair removal done, and then hide before everyone came home. Number two, in that tiny room, I had whatever I needed at the moment: tv, computer, food and drinks, bed and pillow. Number three, I knew that I probably wouldn't be bothered. People would be around, but not interacting with me.

Now I have a family and a wife-to-be. I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. Sure, sometimes I miss my "solitary with company" existence, but it's a small sacrifice to make, to be loved and accepted for who I am. The people who were around when I was hiding did not accept me, which is why I had to hide in the first place. They still don't accept me.

Another thing I tend to miss during the summer months is sleeping in my car. I used to work in an oil and gas terminal from 7 PM to 7 AM. After midnight, I would go out to my car, where my pillow and blanket were waiting. The higher-ups never came around, and three trucks in six or seven hours was a lot. Plus, the trucks were so loud that they woke me up when they were a quarter of a mile away. I sometimes miss laying back on my comfortable seat and pillow, feeling the cool summer air blow through the windows, dozing blissfully off to sleep... and getting paid for it.

I would love to do it again, but I have a soft bed and cuddly woman at home. Plus, outside there lurks...

Another Honey's Night (Blast From the Past Entry)

I'm so glad I don't have to worry about a wig anymore. Hopefully it stays that way (knock on wood)!

January 18th, 2003
-------------------

I set up another night at Honey's... the third so far! I wore a black skirt and a stretchy white top. Dee was so sweet to let me come over to her place to get ready, but then something terrible happened. My wig was so knotted, it was unbelievable! I brushed and brushed it until my arm was killing me. Dee saved my night. She put it up with barrettes and combed it bit by bit. What a sweet woman she is. Then she finished up by spanking me on the butt, though she's said she only likes genetic girls. Maybe Dee is a little confused over me?

Anyway, without her help, I probably would've never made it to Honey's. As it is, we got there at 11 PM. Lilly, Joanne, Vicky, Carmen, Janine, and Andrea were already there. I hear that Andrea hits on every t-girl, but she hasn't gotten to me yet for whatever reason. Janine is trying to set herself up as a she-male escort. Pretty wild, huh?

Janine, me, Lilly, and Joanne

There was some man there with a beard and a mustache. Everyone I met said, "Hi, I'm Vicky." "Hi, I'm Andrea." So he says, "Hi, I'm very attracted to you!" All I could think to say in response was, "Wow, nice name!" He kept asking me, "So when are we getting together?" (Very sure of himself, isn't he?) I basically told him I was just a little bi-curious, so he told me that when I get over my curiosity, to just let him know.

There was another guy who talked to us who had a jealous wife or girlfriend with him. I think it was justifiable, because when she went to go use the restroom, he started giving me a hand massage! He said he was starting a salon catering to tg's called, "Another You," somewhere near Honey's.

Me, some lesbian whose name I forgot, and Dee

I had a few drinks, requested "Castles in the Sky," and danced with Lilly for awhile. Everyone was gone before 2:30, except for Joanne, Carmen and I. I even got Joanne to dance for a song or two.

That's just me getting my groove on. Don't be scared.

Joanne left around 3 AM, so Carmen and I went to back to her place for awhile, since I was not yet sure when I could drive. I know my limitations with drinking and driving pretty well. Carmen obviously still likes me a lot. As we were sitting on the couch and talking, she kept rubbing her head against my shoulder or rubbing my hand. Oy.

I helped her with her computer some more and helped her join the FemmeFever forum. After that, she drove me back to Honey's and I picked up my car. I drove home and then actually snuck into the house in full Amy mode while my parents were sleeping. Risky, risky... I shouldn't do that too often.

Yup, I'm still dancing here, though I have no idea what kind of dance this is...

Now for a few unrelated happenings on some of the weekdays prior to this date. I went to the dentist in "duplex mode." * I was wearing a white stretchy shirt (totally girly), flared low-rise Mudd jeans, purple nail polish, full eye makeup, and blush. Nothing was said, but the assistant kept looking at me with knitted brows (and even more so when I closed my eyes, because I'm sure she got good look at my eyeshadow).

I also went to the eye doctor like that. They had to dilate my eyes. Of course, I didn't wear eye makeup to they eye doctor, and I couldn't wear gloss or lipstick to the dentist. That just doesn't work. Nobody said anything at the eye doctor's office, and no funny looks there. I even refreshed my lipstick in one of their many mirrors while nobody was looking.

I have now noticed a few huge patches of hair missing from my neck! I get so happy and excited when I look at it or feel how smooth it is.

I have also just started therapy with a therapist named Sonny. Not just over the girl inside me, but also on how to handle my incredibly irrational "almost ex-wife." My first therapy appointment was on Monday, January 13th, and I showed her some of the photos from the Winter Ball, the New Jersey photo shoot, and the shoot at Karen's house. At my next session, I came in duplex mode. I described my "adventures" at the dentist and eye doctor, as well as the last time at Honey's. She said that I do my makeup very nicely. She also said that on one hand, I'm very well-grounded, and it's great that I'm just being myself and not letting people get to me. But on the other hand, I'm a risk-taker. Sounds about right. ;)

Go figure.

Hair Removal (Blast From the Past Entry)

Looking back on this now, I can't believe the stuff I wrote about Andi. I honestly didn't even remember writing it, or even feeling that way. I know that I was trying to find myself, and I was extremely lonely at the time.

January 6th, 2003
------------------

Today was... ta-da... my first hair removal session! Unfortunately, I didn't set myself up very well for the day, sleep-wise. I didn't go to bed right away, after coming back from Honey's on Saturday night, and then ended up sleeping for twelve hours! So I basically got up shortly after 6 PM. I tried to go to sleep that night, and my last try at that was around 7 AM, but no luck, and the appointment was at 11:30 AM.

I got there late (damn snow!), but Barbara Ruggiero was her usual friendly self. I had come in male mode, just like when I first met her for my consultation last month. I had just printed some photos from the Long Island Pride Winter Ball and the New Jersey photo shoot, so I showed them to her. I said, "Do you recognize this person?" She was very smiley and complimentary, especially regarding my legs.

Then we got down to it. I had put this cream called EMLA on my face about 90 minutes prior to the appointment. It helps to numb the face a bit. Despite the EMLA, this freakin' hurt! Every five seconds, the gun went "ZAP!" It felt like a scalding hot rubber band hitting my face. I tried to keep perfectly still like I was supposed to, but I couldn't stop my legs from trembling. Barbara has the best bedside manner you could imagine (without getting x-rated, that is), so that helped. The whole procedure was supposed to take 40 - 45 minutes and cost $300.00. Well, it ended up taking more like 90 minutes and I was only charged $275.00. So whatever her reason, it sure seems like Barbara is not in it solely for the money. She's somewhat similar to Karen from FemmeFever, as far as her friendliness and general attitude.

After 90 minutes of torture (interspersed with the application of cooling gel, cortizone cream, and wet tissues), my face was beet-red, especially my neck. I left the office and started heading towards Vanessa's house, as I was going to "hide" over there for the night, while my face looked all nasty. It turned out, though, that she couldn't have me over, as she had to take her mother to the doctor's office and help her at home.

So I went home with the A/C blasting on my face. My hands were freezing, but my face felt nice! Everyone was still away at work when I came home, thankfully. I wouldn't know how to explain to my parents what happened to my face. I took some food and drinks up to my room and hid. The pain had reduced drastically by about 3 PM. I could already feel some very small clear patches on my cheeks, chin and neck. So while this was very encouraging, Barbara did tell me that some of the hairs may grow back, in about four weeks or so. Or... it may never grow back. I hope, I hope! But in either case, it's a good sign, since it shows that my skin is reacting positively already. In three weeks or so, I should notice even more of a change. Anyway, I had taken the night off from work, so went to sleep around 5 PM, and that was that.

And now for some random thoughts. At the New Year's Eve party, I realized that it seemed Carmen was either upset or tired. Well, upon asking her, I found out the answer was: upset. It turns out that Carmen has a crush on me. Now keep in mind that Carmen is a crossdresser. So we're basically talking "guy on guy" here, at least physically. At this point, I think I may be "bi-curious," but only slightly. I may one day want to experiment in that way, but I'm still very girl-crazy. With a man, it would probably have to be the right person, right mood, etc. Upon telling Carmen all of this, she was pretty embarassed, yet she said that I definitely have her as a friend. I stopped by her place last night to help her set up her new computer. I set up her email, and bookmarked a bunch of websites (FemmeFever, our group; urnotalone.com, t-girls.net, and some others). So we're friends, all's well that ends well.

Then we come to Andi. What I wrote before about the "right person?" Andi might be that person. Although, get this, Andi is starting the process to physically become a woman. She's starting the hormone therapy this week, and is looking to go "full steam ahead" with the changing of her sex. Where this leaves Andi's marriage is unknown to all at this point. While this may sound callous, if Andi's wife leaves her, and she is anatomically a woman at that point, should I express an interest in her? Mind you, I have never asked Andi what her sexual preference is, though we have talked about what seems like everything else (many lonnnggg emails). I don't know, I just find it rude and awkward to ask her what her preference is. We could assume that Andi likes women since she's married to one, but men? I'm already attracted to Andi, and not only her appearance, but personality-wise also. She is so funny and honest.

As far as Vanessa, she has lately become very unsupportive about "Amy." She was, until recently, very positive and supportive of my feminine side, but either she has changed her mind, or is just now voicing things that have been on her mind for months. She says she will still come out with me to "tg-type events" or "situations" only. I can also still get ready to go out at her place, but she feels that I have an actual disorder, and I'm irresponsible for going out just anywhere like that. So without going further into the comments and criticisms she had, I'll just say that the whole conversation was very negative. She apologized later, but I still don't need that kind of negativity in my life. It does not help in the least.

I'll close out this entry in a positive way. I have never felt so popular or desired this much ever in my life. It's great! Carmen has a crush on me, Andi says that I'm so passable and "everything about you screams girl!" Dee says that I'm so beautiful, and I have the perfect size body. That guy Cat goes nuts too. I'm popular, I'm popular! And I love it. Hee hee!

I think that I make a much better woman than a man. As a man, I found it difficult to get a date. Now, everyone wants me or envies me. I refuse to let myself get stuck-up, or of the opinion that "I'm so great." But it does feel nice. On top of that, I put my picture as a man on hotornot.com. I got a 1.5 out of 10. Then I put up a picture of me in girl mode. 7.8! The numbers speak for themselves, I guess.

New Year's Eve at Honey's (Blast From the Past Entry)

Here's another entry from my short-lived diary, which was written on separate pieces of looseleaf paper. It's a wonder they didn't get separated. I don't have many pictures from this little get-together, so I'm also including some from a FemmeFever Christmas party at Karen's house (Karen is the one who runs FemmeFever). The ones with me in the green dress were from the Christmas party. Read on...

December 31st, 2002
---------------------

Somehow I managed to get off of work on New Years Eve. The first thing that popped into my head was: Gotta ring in the New Year as Amy! First I sent out an email to my friends in FemmeFever (Michelle, Heather, Anna, Terri, Carrie, Lilly, Nancy, and our "leader," Karen). I had to call Carmen and Chrissy since they weren't online for the time being. Then I put out a group email to the rest of the FemmeFever members. I got a few "maybe's," but in the end, the group consisted of Camen, Dee, Nancy, and Chrissy. Eileen, a girl who I had met at the "Father Jerry" photo shoot, and two who I had never met, Debbie and Janine LeClaire, also said they would be there, but I never saw them. The venue was Honey's in Bayport, which I had never been to.

Vanessa wasn't coming because she ddn't feel well, but I still came over to exchange Christmas gifts. She also let me change and get ready at her house. Vanessa got me two articles of clothing for my "Amy side." Not anything very feminine, but very nice! Nautica and Tommy Hilfiger nice. She also got me a Lancome Juicy Tube, which is very expensive, yet worth every penny even if I had been buying it myself. I also got a CD from Vanessa's mother, and another CD from Greg, Vanessa's brother. They were both Paul Oakenfold CD's. Awesome music!

Anyway, as far as getting ready is concerned, between having a stomache-ache ad my wig being knotted beyond belief, I ended up running late. I found Honey's with no problem, and arrived at 9:30 PM, a half an hour late. The cover charge was $15, which was a bit steep. I checked my coat, but they wouldn't take my pocketbook, so I put that back in my car.

I almost forgot to mention my outfit. I wore a black, almost see-through blouse with flared long sleeves, and a blue imitation leather skirt. My legs were bare this time, and I wore my trusty white open-toe heels. Luckily, the skirt had two little pockets in front to put my keys in and a few bucks in. I ordered my first gin and tonic (one out of five that night), and immediately met two other crossdressers there, Beverly (tall and pretty!) and Christine (dark-haired and quiet). I thought they might've been Janine or Debbie, since I hadn't met either of them, but nope. I was wondering where Carmen and Nancy were, as Carmen was supposed to be picking up Nancy at a nearby train station before 9 PM. Then I spotted Nancy. They were sitting in a back room which I hadn't even noticed. I figured the place was going to be like Luxe, from the others in FemmeFever talking about the loud music, and I was preparing myself to be screaming in people's ears all night. In that back room, however, you can actually hold a conversation.

I sat down at their table, and soon Dee showed up. I hadn't even had much to eat before going to Honey's, so after just one drink I was feeling a little tipsy. I danced with Carmen for a bit, and we both had a good time. Then... when I went out to look to see if any of the other girls had shown up (Chrissy was one of them at the time), this sleazy-looking guy came up to me and said I was a good dancer! Ha ha! I have very little rhythm, so I said, "Uh huh, sure I am." He wanted to dance, and I wasn't sure, because he seemed pretty strange looking. However, I was a bit drunk, so after a second or two of thought, I said, "Okay." Now let me describe this guy: Leather vest and pants, weird black hat pulled down low, long scraggly curly black hair, so kind of like Slash from Guns N' Roses. (Nancy later described him as an S&M Gorton's Fisherman, which had my laughing hysterically!)

So we were dancing, and he's saying things like, "I love your eyes," "I love your hair," "You're very sexy," etc., etc. All the while he's looking me up and down with this toothy grin. Two different things were going on in my had here: 1) Oh, he's so sleazy. Is he going to try a move on me? Please, no! What is he going to do? and 2) Wow, I've never gotten compliments before, and dressed as a woman too! So while I admit that I did like the attention, I wished it was coming from someone else! I introduced him to Carmen, who was also dancing, and we danced as a group for all of two minutes. I was hoping he would rub off on Carmen, but he was stuck to me like glue. Gah, I know, I'm horrible! Carmen left the dance floor for a few minutes, then came back by herself, ha ha!

They were playing a lot of good music, so I danced for a few songs, then I told him (his name was John, but he wanted me to call him "Cat") that I was going to sit down and rest for a bit. He followed me, and I introduced him to Nancy and Dee. Then he wanted to buy me a drink. Okay, no problem there, since this would be my fourth drink. (And yes, he didn't give it to me, the drink server did.) Dee made me laugh, because when I said that he wasn't my type, she said, "I don't think he's anybody's type."

Cat seemed to become somewhat interested in Nancy, so I was feeling a bit of relief. He never totally "forgot" about me though. He did caress my leg a little later on, and I was just let him do it. Yes, I was drunk. I was also feeling a mixture of excitement and revulsion. It was rather strange for me, actually.

Besides all that nonsense, the other girls and I did talk quite a bit. Dee went to the same hair removal specialist that I'll be going to, Barbara Ruggiero. Her husband is a doctor, and she works out of his office, doing laser hair removal. My first appointment is on Monday, January 6th. Dee highly recommended her.

We counted down the to the New Year, and I was on the dance floor, of course. Afterwards, this GG (genetic girl) named Michelle came to our table and was complimenting us all on our outfitsm makeup, jewelry, etc. Then she danced with Nancy, Carmen and I. While we were dancing, we were playing "volleyball" with the balloons they had there. It was a lot of fun until they made us stop. (Booooo!)

I should also note that Beverly knows Cat. They talked to each other as if they had already met. So I asked Beverly if she knew him. She said, "I don't give a shit about Cat." She then kissed me full on the lips, twice! (She was probably trying for more, but I'm just not ready for that.) So there you are, my first kiss from a transgendered woman. I'm still not sure if I liked it or not. I was surprised as hell when it happened! I did find out later on that they knew each other, and according to Cat, they had kissed at one point.

The continental breakfast (coffee, bagels and rolls) was served and soon atter that, it was closing time (4 AM). I said farewell to everyone and snuck away before Cat tried to kiss me goodbye or something. Most of the alcohol had worn off by that point, so I was okay to drive.. I drove to a nearby gas station, changed back into my male clothes, and went home. I actually stayed awake and played a computer game for an hour before going to sleep. Zzzzzz...

All in all, it was fun and exciting time! Everyone really liked me... some a bit too much! We plan to go again to Honey's on Saturday night. I can't wait!

Hair and Poundage

I've gained about 25 pounds in the last year. This is a combination of several factors. In New York, I was drinking a lot of water a day, and was somewhat active at work, despite it being a mostly sit-down kind of job. I wasn't working out at the time. Then I moved to Michigan. My partner, Nikki, was the only one working, so I couldn't afford my medication. (Too bad I didn't know about Macomb Care Connect at the time, which is a state-funded program which pays for prescriptions and primary care doctor visits.) I was off my hormone meds for almost a year. I got a lot of my strength and energy back. I started working out four to five times a week, for 40 minutes a day.

In May of 2008, I discovered Macomb Care Connect and went back on my meds for a copay of $5 each. I lost my energy again and then starting having pain in my back. I stopped exercising. When the pain in my back went away, I was lazy and stuck in a rut of no exercise. Just the other day, I made the mistake of standing on the bathroom scale. I am now 165 pounds. Ugh. It's distributed throughout my body, so it really isn't that bad, but I wanted to lose weight, not gain it!

The good news is that I went up a cupsize. I was originally a large A cup, or maybe a small B. Now I'm firmly (pun intended) entrenched into B territory. They get in the way sometimes, and I have trouble sleeping on my stomach, and I love it. I went to have a mammogram about a month ago, because I felt a lump in my right breast. It was sore, and I was pretty worried. The clinic told me that I just have lumpy breasts. They're still pretty sensitive.

One of the negative effects I had from being off my hormones, was that some of my hair follicles were reawakened. Before my 50 or so hours of electrolysis, I went for six sessions of laser (actually, MultiLight) treatments. Now these hairs have grown back. The follicles must have been lying dormant, and the testosterone flooding through my system again rejuvenated them. Since starting the hormones again, I can say that some of them have once again gone dormant.

So I found some new personal evidence in the "hormones and facial hair" debate. What I've noticed affected by the hormones is the cheek and "sideburn area." Now back on hormones, I'd say that 1/3 of the hair in those two areas is gone. I still need a lot of work though. I wasn't done with electrolysis, and now I need more than ever! I thank God that all the hairs haven't grown back! The electrolysis seems to be pretty permanent, no matter what hormonal changes have occurred in my body.

Yesterday, I pushed Skylar in the stroller for about four miles. We went to the store to get crickets for our tree frogs, then came back home. I was exhausted, but I was glad to get the exercise, get Skylar out of the house, and give my sweetie a break from our lil' terror. My arms, shoulders and legs got nice and tan too. I would love to get back to the weight that I was at. I can only fit in 25% of my clothes at this point, and I don't have any money to buy more. I don't want my breasts to get smaller though. I really love them at this size, and they really help me to feel feminine.

I want to get a job and start on electrolysis again. I want that so badly. I'm still looking. No giving up here!

Origin of a Transsexual Woman

First blog post ever, and I'll dive right into it with a summary of my life as far as how it relates to my transsexuality.

I started out life with a female brain and a male body. This misplaced application of hormones is mostly likely due to stress in the mothers of people like me. My mother has shown many times that she can't handle stress appropriately. I was conceived right after my father came home from Vietnam. Statistics have shown that more transsexuals are born during times of war than any other time. When else would most mothers be under stress during the same time period?

I was raised to be a man, and I was taught that acting feminine was "wrong." I don't blame my parents or anyone else for this. I looked and sounded like any other boy... but I didn't always act that way. I didn't know how a boy (or man) is supposed to act. From a very young age, I remember acting as a girl would do, and I would get yelled at by my parents, or made fun of by the other kids. So I learned: "don't do this, don't do that." I couldn't act how I felt inside. I started copying off of the other boys. I never did a very good job, so I was made fun of at every opportunity, and I just never ever fit in. What I do blame my mother for, is constantly ransacking my room to find my things and throw them out. Was that really necessary? I hid them well so as not to disturb her or anyone else in the house, but she would go through my things when I was in school and throw them out. I never had to go through the process of purging my things, because my mother would always do it for me. She even threatened to kill my little green iguana if I didn't stop. What does a lizard know about how to dress? Stupid!

In high school (and even in junior high), I had many problems. I looked pretty much like a teenage boy, only I had pretty-boy looks, was thin, and short for a guy. Plus I wore glasses until 10th grade, and had acne problems until 12th. So people always called me "nerd," "wimp," "fag," and such. I was picked on every single day. The girls (some of whom I had crushes on) would laugh and make fun of me, and the guys were worse. I had chocolate milk poured on my head, gum put in my hair, my shorts pulled down in gym in front of some girls, my locker broken into, and nasty things painted on my locker door. They used to steal my schoolbooks, personal belongings, and even the glasses off my face once (I punched that guy in the face for that, and then he threw me into a closet door and it broke). It was truly horrible. I used to have the worst stomach aches every single morning (sometimes at home before leaving, many times at school in the morning), because I feared going to school. Work and college were much easier, but there were still some snickers and comments here and there. I thought of myself as being a crossdresser until I was 32.

I began to have girlfriends finally (just four long term relationships), and I would often live vicariously through them. At one point, my mother searched my room when I was taking the train to pick Sandy up. (She was my first girlfriend when I was 17, and she lived in the next county.) My mother dumped the clothes on my bed for Sandy to see. The funny thing is, she already knew, and some of the clothes were ones she had given me. Your plan was foiled, mother!

My next girlfriend, Millie, had conflicting feelings over my "hobby." She gave me some makeup and a wig (we were not the same size in clothing), but we would have fights over my "tendency" all the time. After a year together (which was very tumultuous and unstable), she finally left me because she told her parents. They forbade her from seeing me again.

Then there was Vanessa. She wasn't comfortable with that aspect of me, and we did have many arguments over it. To her credit, she was supportive nonetheless. She wanted to kill my mother (LOL). When I finally decided to get a public storage locker (to keep my mother from throwing out my things), it was broken into. Everything inside was stolen. Who would steal a bunch of women's clothes? To this day, I wonder if my mother found a way to get into it and take my things. It was Vanessa who went down to the police station with me late at night, when I filed a report with them. Needless to say, tracking down clothes was not a priority for them (and I don't blame them for that). In the beginning of our relationship, she did do my hair and makeup. While it made me feel good, it made her uncomfortable and confused. I eventually ended our relationship badly, and a big part of that was the fact that I subconsciously wanted to look more feminine, and she was an obstacle in the direction I wanted to go in. To this day, I still regret the way I handled things. I was one mixed-up woman, and she suffered in the end due to that.

My next ex, Christina, was supportive in the beginning. She went out with me when I was dressed up. I used the name, "Jessica" at the time. We used to go to restaurants, the mall, and such. One time we went to a park and she took many pictures of me. The last time we went out in such a way, was to the mall. I got kicked out of the womens' dressing room in Macy's, and then I ran into Vanessa's brother in JC Penny's. It was a very traumatic experience for me. Shortly after that, Christina and I got married. She no longer wanted to spend time with me when I was dressed in such a manner, and she didn't want me going out alone like that either. I was house-ridden. A year and a half later, we separated (for reasons unrelated to my transsexuality, believe it or not). For the first time in my life, I didn't want to be with anyone. I had nobody, and I had no interest in finding anybody. It was always either one or the other. But for once, I focused on myself.

I found this support group of sorts on the internet, called FemmeFever. The lady who runs this group is a total sweetheart named Karen. She did a makeover on me and took some pictures. I then went to myriad of FemmeFever events for the next year and a half. I had professional photos of me taken (with a red wig... I should get some professional photos taken of how I look now), we went to Honey's (a lesbian bar/club), formal dances, and catered events. I "changed my name" to Amy at this time, because Christina knew me as Jessica. It was fitting anyway, since it was a new start for me. I found that the more I just existed as Amy, the more I didn't want to go back to leading life as a male. Many crossdressers are content to express themselves in a feminine manner, and then go back to their male lives (not that I find anything wrong with crossdressers, they're awesome people in general). I began to realize that this is the way I want to live my life... all the time. I started laser hair removal, and I went to a therapist specializing in gender dysphoria. Shortly after that, I began hormones. That was six years ago. About three years ago, I started electrolysis (laser can only take you so far). I began to care for myself and my appearance a lot more. I had a misplaced insizer removed and bridged (it looked like a fang). I had my birthmark lightened via a laser procedure. I began to take better care of my skin and hair, which were now softer and more feminine. The hormones began working quickly, softening my body and facial features, and reducing my body hair greatly. I slowly began to grow breasts (yay!). Unfortunately, I suffered some weight gain as well. I went through hell to get to where I am at this point. But now I have thick skin. That is the positive aspect of this. In my later high school years, rather than rebelling against my parents, I rebelled against my school-mates. I didn't care what anyone thought, and I gave up being upset by it. I knew that I didn't do anything to deserve being treated like that, so I knew it was them... not me. Now I really don't care what people think, which is great. I'm free. Who knows, if I was one of the cool, popular kids in high school, I might still be walking around worrying so much about what people thought of me. So I'm almost glad, actually, of what happened to me. "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." And I am so much stronger now because of what I went through.

Just a note before I sign off for today. I have set up AdSense on my blog. I'm sure some of you may find that annoying or worse. I'm trying to get money together for GRS (Gender Reassignment Surgery). I have no money and no job at this point. I have wanted this surgery for almost seven years now, and I'm no closer to getting it done than I was back then (besides completing the Real Life Test of living as a woman full-time for a year). Coming up with over $10,000 using AdSense is not something I think would be possible, so I humbly ask for donations to the following email address: amethystnewyork at yahoo dot com (I spelled it out to try to avoid spam). I have also just added a PayPal button to the sidebar of my blog. I would greatly appreciate any and all help. Thank you. :)
