What I'm {NOT} Doing This Weekend

I may be lying to myself ... okay, I lied ... because today is already Saturday and I've already done some pinning.

WHEN WILL IT STOP!

Go on Pinterest. Do it now! You'll find amazing things and wonderful new ideas. Things like these:
'nuff said.
next summer, expect this matthew.
who thought of this? you're a genius.
cheesecake inside of strawberries. healthy treat? well it's better than a whole cheesecake!
wide plank floors, white/ivory cabinets, beauty.
So it's very possible that I spend most of my week perusing this site. Starting now at 12 PM on Saturday I'm stopping. I'm spending the rest of my weekend being awesome in Italy. That means I'm going to eat a pre-game meal (for the game I'm not playing), take my pre-game nap (because I deserve that), go watch HC Asiago kick some Alleghe bum, then spend my Sunday enjoying the -hopefully- good weather with friends!

Happy Weekend. Peace out Pinterest. Until next time. Or Monday. Whatever, get off me.

{Love}ing

1.
This hairstyle. If anyone wants to send me a super easy tutorial, I'll pay you. Okay, I won't pay but I'll give you props. I've tried to do this a few times over the last couple days and I have not yet figured it out. Help!!

2.
I want to be in a place right now where I can wear this entire outfit and be comfortable. It's too cold here. It's impractical here. I don't have anything like this here. I want.

3.

4.
Like I've said before, love this for storing ... anything.

5.
I know people think it's nuts but I love the idea. Maybe not hearts, not names, but something. It would be especially nice since my husband can't quit taking his ring on and off, on and off, dropping it on the ground, juggling it, etc. In the middle of the night I'll hear it roll across the floor because he can't quit messing with it.

6.
Too bad it's not Summer anymore. I'd really love a pair.

7.

8.
Of course, Match.

Make Your Monday: {Shopping}

There are few things in this world that can make a girl happier than shopping. Yesterday we took a little tour through the town of Bassano where a friend and I were granted the opportunity to take a peak through just one store. One. While our husbands sat outside wishing for nothing more than to head back up the mountain to sit on the couch and possibly drink some pops on their day off. (Pops = beer)

Bassano Del Grappa
I couldn't tell you what the name of this store was, but I can tell you it was marvelous. Women's clothing on the left, baby clothes on the right, and men's clothing in the back. Right where it belongs! The whole place was full of beautiful blue grays, browns of all shades, a pop of teal, orange or red here and there. Distressed wood and statement pieces to display accessories. Now, I'm not in the market for a baby but they also had this beautiful stroller in a light apple-green. Sigh.

It got me pining away for a few new things. Unfortunately everyday Matt is asking me where I got my latest pair of pants, shirt, or shoes. Yes, I did some shopping before I left. But they were early Christmas presents people! None of our own money was spent on it. Why should he care? So because of this I sort of think I should be able to actually go spend some of my own money on new stuff. He doesn't quite see it that way. He's also a man. Who hates to shop.

But since I'm thinking of it anyway I had to indulge in a little bit of online browsing this morning. So here are some of my favorites! There's even a little gem in here from, gasp!, Abercrombie! I haven't worn Abercrombie since I was in high school but I saw a friend with a pair of their jeans on the other day and thought "You know, those are super cute. As long as it's not a sweatshirt with A&F scrawled across the front what's the difference?"

{via}
Pair these puppies with a cute sweater and boots and you'd never know they were made for adolescent kids who wear too much cologne.

{via}
Love this from Burberry. Something about everything they make is so classic and chic. I'd probably wear this out in one season.

{via}
I would totally throw these first three items together for a finished product. These shoes from Asos are amazing. Not exactly practical on these Italian cobblestone roads but if le regazze qui can do it, so can I!

{via}
This beauty from Burberry is so simple but I love that racing green and the pattern peaking out on the cuff is just enough not to be designer gaudy.

{via}
These are so off of anything I've ever had or liked before but there's something that catches my eye about them. When you're in a simple crew neck sweater (see above) but you want to dress it up a bit - while still being casual - the concealed wedge gives you a boost and it's just enough flair to be your statement piece.

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend and wish you a fabulous week ahead!

It's an Affair

Although I intended to spend a relaxing three weeks at home - visiting friends, hanging out with family, prettying myself (and my wardrobe) for the upcoming season in Italy - it turns out plans never go quite as expected. Who knew? I didn't know.

Tomorrow I run my first 14k. I trained for a long time for this. When this week rolled around I was in my third week of boot camp, my third week of being home, and my third week of legitimate running around to the point that I think I could implode at any moment. I am exhausted. I haven't run in three days. I sleep for a solid 10 hours a night and still feel tired during the day. I am ready for this all to slow down, hop on the next plane, and cuddle up on the couch next to my new husband.

Maybe Lucy will join us. Sometimes my kitty loves to cuddle!

This weekend, beginning tonight, entails exactly what I stayed back for. One of my high school best friend's wedding. I've spent a bit of time with her over the last few days discussing the wedding plans and this is what I'm envisioning ...

Of course that's not the dress. How dare I spoil the fun? This could be way off as well, but I guess it's sort of what I could see her doing. Either way, it's going to be fun. There will be great people, good music, fabulous friends, and I actually get to enjoy the dinner! Bonus.

However, this all comes after the dreaded run I have to do in the morning. Wish me luck, everyone! I'm going to need it.

Let's hope after all the festivities I make it to the airport on time!

Plethora

What? Something other than a "Funny Video Friday" post? Yes, yes, it's true! Things have been going pretty quietly lately, save for the deranged wailing of a couple lunatics. They really aren't worth my time or effort, so onward with other things.

The kids' last day of school was yesterday. Within four hours of getting home from school, Sarah started saying how bored she was. Oh boy. She was crying because she missed two of her friends. She had just seen them a few hours previous. Anyway, those two will be sleeping over our house in a couple weeks. That should be interesting.

Skylar's last day was actually last week. She'll be going into kindergarten in August. Wow! When I first made Skylar's acquaintance, she was only six months old. She has grown so much, into a little person... with her little hands in everything. Skylar keep asking me if she's going to start kindergarten tomorrow, and if she's going to be in Savannah's classroom. Same school, kid. Different class.

Savannah's class had all received t-shirts that say, "I Run..." on them. There was a space below to fill out a "reason" for running. Savannah wrote: "Because I'm hyper." Pardon my bad English, but ain't that the truth! For some reason, Savannah seems to be the only one of our daughters who doesn't mind school being out.

And now for a different sort of education. The Wicca classes I mentioned way back when (see the bottom of the entry), will finally be starting in late June. They'll run for two hours a week on a weekday, for eight months. Nikki and I will both be attending. I can't wait! The reason this was delayed so much, was that the High Priest's and High Priestess' son passed away a few months ago. Naturally, everything was put on hold for awhile. I sent them my condolences, of course, however ineffectual that may have been. I can't even begin to imagine such a loss.

Nikki and I are very excited about tonight. We're going to a "girl's night out", at a local restaurant, with a few friends, and quite a few new people (soon-to-be friends, I hope!). I know it'll be a lot of fun. I'll post the whole rundown here.

We're following up on Saturday, with a party at our apartment complex, celebrating Nikki's graduation from hell! She worked at a school with some really abusive, crazy middle schoolers... and the staff was even worse. The teacher and principal harassed her at every opportunity, in an attempt to get Nikki to quit, or do something that would be grounds for terminating her employment. I first wrote about that horrible mess over here.

Therapy has been going well, and we've been discussing quite a few heavy topics. I first mentioned this new therapist here. I do feel a lot more comfortable around this guy now. Well, as comfortable as I can be around any guy anyway. He has a very dry sense of humor, which suits me just fine. It didn't show up during our first session, but wow, is it making appearances now. He's funny. He's easy to talk to, but he tends to challenge me with questions to make me think. Most of the time, I know the answer to his question, or at least part of it.  It's just that putting heavy issues like that into words when put on the spot... yeah, it's kind of hard sometimes. But then, it's supposed to be.

Tomorrow is another Funny Video Friday, and my last zombie-related vid for Zombie Month, or Zombie Awareness Month, what-have-you. The only thing is, I'm out of funny zombie videos. Any suggestions?

Thanks for reading!

More Connections

This is just a short post to let everyone know that I am now on a few more sites. One such site is the one and only Twitter:

http://twitter.com/BeingAmyK

You may notice that I have a Twitter box on the right. Feel free to add me on Twitter, though you can also see my last 10 "tweets" in this box.

I am also on StumbleUpon:

http://www.stumbleupon.com/stumbler/BeingAmy/

For those who don't know what StumbleUpon is, you can use it to browse other sites that people have recommended by giving a "thumbs up."  At this point, my blog has been recommended eight times. You can see how many "thumbs up" I've received in the box on the right. The more recommendations I receive, the more my site is shown to other people. That's a good thing. So yeah, once again, that button is on the right... coughcough.

And, of course, I've been on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/user/BeingAmyK

I only have that one video so far. I'll put up another one at some point.

My FaceBook account is not at all new (two years now), and you can click on the badge in the sidebar to get there.

The reason for all the newer accounts is to get more exposure to this blog. The more people who know about transsexuals, the better. There are a lot of poor souls out there who think we all look like freaks or something. Transfolk can be very beautiful people, inside and out. As far as the transgender community, many people have said that my blog has helped them in some way. The more people I can reach out to, the better. Plus, I have made quite a bit of friends along the way. One can never have too many of those.

Also... I am trying to get my name out there to any organizations or individuals who may wish to donate to my cause (Gender Reassignment Surgery). In this day and age, it's hard for anyone to have any extra money, but maybe if my blog comes across the eyes of Bill Gates or one of his buddies, or some loaded Hollywood type, or even someone who would be willing and able to throw just a couple bucks my way... that could definitely help! Even if someone just clicks on my blog and then leaves immediately, that all helps with the AdSense profits. I don't make a whole lot from AdSense, but like I said, every bit helps.

If you find me on one of these other sites, stop by and say hi!

Jealousy and Insecurity. Grudges and Misinformation.

You know, I wasn't going to say anything, but this is getting ridiculous. No sooner do I get rid of one of one toxic person (my ex-girlfriend, turned friend, turned frienemy, I suppose), but now the other one is rearing it's head again. Now they're writing actual blogs about how "abusive" and "violent" I am.

I know I'm not a horrible person. I know that me and my girlfriend's relationship is not up for judging. I'm really not interested in these people's opinions, but now it's up on Blogger and Facebook, and who knows where else? Any mutual friends are bound to come across this misinformation, and perhaps buy into it. These posts are exaggerated, with facts changed, removed, or completely fabricated. What I've written in my blog the last few months is the truth. The absolute, honest truth. I wouldn't write anything here if it wasn't true. It's just not worth spreading lies all over.

I feel like I'm dealing with a bunch of kindergartners. Are they jealous? Insecure? Just plain old psychotic? Do they envy my life so much that they have to try to tear it apart?

My ex is still going on about things that happened during our relationship. This was 14 - 17 years ago. I can barely remember half the things she talks about. She's writing about me asking if I could use a coupon of hers to buy lipstick. It upset her so much in 1994 (yes, 1994!) that she writes about it now. Yes, I was in the role of her boyfriend at the time, and yes, having someone in that role be interested in lipstick can be confusing and upsetting, but hello... 17 years. Should I expect some sort of communique in the year 2050? "How dare you ask for the lipstick coupon?" By then, I'll be lucky to know my own name, much less what lipstick is, or what a coupon is.

No, I don't owe anybody anything. Sure, I am thankful for what people have done in the past for me, but I define me. I could've made it on my own, with a tiny room and all my stuff crammed into it. I'd still be me. I don't owe my life in my current gender to anyone. It was, and still is, my journey.

No, I didn't stomp off and leave my fiancee and four-year-old daughter in a bad neighborhood. Rather, my fiancee stopped following me (in a quiet neighborhood community) and decided to walk back to the car. She was the one having the "fit" at the time, and I'd forgotten all about the incident until this "friend" wrote about it the other day. We walked for a few more minutes, did what we were there to do (geocaching), and then walked back to the car. Nobody knew that Nikki wouldn't be able to find the car. I stayed by the car with Savannah, in case she came back, while my friend (who was there for all this and now writes it differently) drove off to look for her. My friend was with us, and did not go with Nikki when she turned around and walked the other way. But I am filth for not running after her. Riiiighhht...

I never told Nikki to take off work so I could go to court. The engagement ring that Nikki bought me was not even close to $2,000 like my ex claimed. Not even close to half that. We don't have that kind of money. I do not "guilt" people into doing things. I don't push buttons. Why not think that perhaps I was feeling real emotions, and not acting out fake ones? If I'm upset, I act it. I have a hard time hiding that. If I'm fine, I don't "act upset." I'm not a good actor. So if there's an upsetting conversation in a public place, I might get up and walk a few feet away to compose myself. Nobody was "abused" by my getting up and walking a few feet away.

I have not written a violent or abusive letter to my former friend, nor have I written anything like that in my blog. I mean, really, that's here for everyone to see. Yes, I am Wiccan, and yes, it is a peaceful religion. I'm a peaceful person. I'm not doing anything to harm anybody. All I'm doing is speaking the true facts on my blog, and my feelings about them. What I feel is frustration, anger, resentment, and sadness. It's okay for Wiccans to feel this. It's okay for Wiccans to express this. There is no slander involved, because everything I wrote (and continue to write) here is true. So puh-leese keep my religion out of this. Thank you.

I am in no way "innocent" or "perfect." I'll never say that I am such things. I would never want to be perfect, and only children and animals should ever be thought of as innocent.

My ex keeps trying to say I'm a bad parent because I can't afford to hire a lawyer and travel to North Carolina to appear in court. (My daughter's mother won't let me have visitation, though she was court-ordered to do so many years back.) I'm unemployed. How am I supposed to come up with that kind of money? I miss her so much. Maybe the bad parent is the one that won't let me speak to my daughter on the phone.

She also says that I think with my yet-to-be-corrected sex organ. How dense. She urges me to get GRS so that I can act more like a woman. First of all, it's an insult to say that I think or act anything like a man. Secondly, one does not "think" with their private parts. The general public won't see any difference in my behavior from pre-op to post-op. What most everybody sees is me. How many people get to see what kind of sex organ you have? Other than a lover or a doctor, usually none. What she said is at the height of closed-mindedness.

If they really believe some of these things, then reality and their recollection of things (such as it is) are at odds with each other. It's like reading The Enquirer. The facts presented have very little basis on reality. You both would like to think that what you're saying is having an effect on me, but I can see right through you.

Two grudges. One is about things that happened 14 - 17 years ago. Another is someone talking about things that happened months ago, and that Nikki and I have already worked out. Why is it that Nikki and I are over this crap, and this person holds a grudge about it? It didn't happen to her and it's not her relationship. Hello? Bueller?

Like I said, I am a peaceful person, and a loving one. However, some I just can't find love for, due to their actions. That said, I wish them no ill will, and I hope they find true happiness in life. Then perhaps they'll stop worrying so much about my life, and go about living their own.

Negativity

Negativity is like a disease. You can catch it from others. Persistent anger, sadness, jealousy, or envy is just not conducive to living a happy and healthy life. But no matter how positive you are, you can (and will) come across negative individuals. These people, if they become close to you, can bring some of their negativity into your life.

My mother is negative.

She always found little ways to tear me down. If I had good news, or was happy about something, she would always seem dubious about it's authenticity, or indicated in some way that it wouldn't last. She rarely had a kind word to say about anybody, yet was always worried about their opinion of her. She wasn't a mean person by any means. She seemed to have trouble in seeing the positive about anyone or anything. It was hard growing up with a parent like that. My father was the epitome of neutral, and rarely gave his opinion on anything. I grew up with what seemed like a black cloud over my head. Once I moved out of my parents' house, I began to see the truth.

My first real love (Millie) was also negative.

When things were going good for us, and we were getting along, she would get afraid of being too close. She would purposely mess up our relationship. She was afraid I would hurt her, although I never did. She stood me up more times than I could count, and it was a toss-up if she would call when she said she would. At one point, we stayed overnight at a motel, to get one night of togetherness. (We both lived with our parents at the time, and hers did their best to keep a close eye on her. No, we were both in our early 20's.) She ended up abandoning me there. When I was asleep, she snuck out. Upon hearing the door close, I woke up. I ran after her car with no shoes on, begging her not to leave. I ended up stepping in glass, cutting my feet. I then realized that I had left the keys in the motel room! Oh, fun. I tried and tried with her, trying to make it work, because I really loved her. In hindsight, I may have been too forgiving. She found me years after we broke up (she just disappeared on me for a month), and apologized for the way she had treated me. She was so afraid that I would hurt her in some way, but the only hurtful one in the relationship was her.

I had a coworker who was negative.

This lady was perpetually unhappy. She had been fired from so many employers in our field, but for some reason, my employer hired her anyway. She tried to tear me down for eight long years. They eventually made me the shift supervisor, to her endless chagrin. She tried to get me in trouble, tried to get me to quit, and tried to get other coworkers against me. I wasn't the only one she had a problem with, oh no. But I did seem to be her main target, since I was in charge of her, yet she was better at her job than I was (coughnotreallycough), and she had seniority (technically true, but it meant very little in her case). There was one point where she was criticizing, no... insulting her husband, calling him a dirtbag or a scumbag, and that he only cared about himself. He had gone into a diabetic coma and was in the hospital. He died right around the time she was saying these things about him. She broke down crying, saying, "And I said all those things to him, and about him, and then he died!" I thought maybe that would've changed her attitude right then and there. Poor guy. A few days later, she was back to her usual tirades and schemes.

And then I ended up marrying someone who was (is) very negative.

At first, she didn't seem that way (and neither did Millie, now that I think of it). She just seemed... damaged. And by golly, it was me who was going to fix her and make her happy again! Yeah, right. She would actually say that hate causes CANCER. That's right, not that hate *is* a cancer, but it'll make you get cancer. Yet, let's see... she hates me, she hates Nikki, she hates my mother, she hates my brother and sister, she hates anyone LGBT, and she hates anyone who is not a Christian. That's just for starters. When she's upset, she tries to upset others. "Misery loves company" should be her motto. She won't let my daughter talk to me. It's been three years since I've heard her voice.

And now...?

Today, I am mostly free from negative people and situations. Not all of us are so lucky. Keep in mind that by no means is everything butterflies and daffodils. Life is life. To even talk about the people above, can be considered a negative thing in itself.

But to ruled over by sadness, anger, or depression, is just harmful to the soul, the body, everything.

Notice that I did say "mostly." There is someone who is having a negative impact on us and our family. I harbor no ill will towards this person, but I wish and pray to the God and Goddess that this person would just stop. I believe this friend is mostly a positive person, and I don't think they realize what a negative impact they're having on this household.

Largely because of this person, Nikki and I argue. Yes, sometimes it's in front of the kids, or they overhear it. That makes me sad, but I will admit I act in a brash manner when I get upset, and then I regret it later. Yes, we have our problems, and no, it is not only because of this friend. But they exacerbate the problems, and rub salt in the wounds.

Let us work it out. Let us be in harmony, love, and peace again. I know you're mad at me, but let it be. Be a friend without causing all this chaos. You think you're being positive, but the end result of your actions is:

Negativity.
