The first international Harrods store opened in Italy, on the Island of Sardinia. Stuated with the luxury mixed use complex of Prestige Village, in the town of Porto Cervo, the new Harrods store has been conceived as a complex of 24 stand alone futuristic glass boxes designed by Italian architect Giò Pagani.
Among the first luxury brands to open stand alone boutiques are Valentino (owned, by a Qatari entity), the showrooms of Bugatti e Maserati, jewelry and watch brand Chopard and Hublot. To mark the importance of the opening (both Harrods and Costa Smeralda being owned by Qatar) the inauguration ceremony was attended in person by the HRH Khalifa Al Thani but also by his 33 year old son HRH Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad who will take the reigns of Qatar by the end of this year.
