Funny Video Friday: Cookie Monster Metal

You know, many metalheads cite Possessed as being the first death metal band. Some say that the signature sound of death metal was created by the band known simply as Death. But as far as individual vocalists go, Cookie Monster just takes the cake... or cookie.

This video is a favorite of Rachel's mom, Amy (I love that name!). I had played it at our house when they came over one time. This video is dedicated to the Other Amy.  ;)

"Tastes so goooood... rrrrrahhhhh!"

Muzzies for Max

As much as I hate the ridiculous paleness that is my skin tone right now, this is for a very good cause. Yes, that's a mustache, drawn on by Matt, with my eyeliner. Some good friends of ours just had their first little one, Max Joshua Anderson, on February 18th. There were some immediate complications, but things are steadily getting better. Max's dad, Josh, has asked everyone he knows to grow a mustache in support of his first son and to send the pictures in. This is our submission.

In other news. I'm not usually one for watching the award shows. However I feel very disconnected these days and decided to head to People and see how some of the Red Carpets were shaping up. I have to say I'm really disappointed in all of it. Everyone looks old and over done and it's just not my taste. However, I would like to say Mila Kunis and Lea Michele rocked at the Oscars and the SAG awards.

~ Oh yes. And can Kim Kardashian stop tweeting so much? I had to Unfollow because it was seriously useless and I never saw what anyone else had to say.

Awkward and Awesome

Here it is: Awkward and Awesome Thursday. Following -- Some of the wonderful things in life that are, shall I say, Awkward and Awesome!

Awkward

- This picture.
- The way Lucy stands sometimes. With one paw pointed out and the other pointed in. She's special.
- Starting a Twitter account and only having 2 followers that are people I know. Which really says nothing for my popularity as I only have 6 followers.
- People coming into my house thinking I just dyed my hair because it smells like amonia. In reality, Lucy just peed.
- Snooki's giant glitter glasses.
- The amount I sweat at the gym. After reading an ad in Women's Health Magazine, the amount you sweat is determined mostly by genetics. When we have children they will be born a sweaty mess. You're welcome kids!

Awesome

- Going to see *Just Go With It* with Matthew, laughing about some preview, and him leaning over and saying "We're so in love aren't we?"
- Red Velvet Cupcakes by Ashley Walters.
- Texts From Last Night.  Dirty, gross, yet always hysterical.
- Getting $2 in my PayPal from taking a survey. Money is money people. And I make ... a little. :o)
- The playoff beard. Hot.

Transsexual Discrimination in Dianic Wicca

As I mentioned in another post, there is a problem in Wicca with prejudice against transgender folk, particularly in Dianic Wicca. Transwomen aren't allowed in many Dianic covens and officially, the tradition as whole, because they weren't born as a woman. Transmen aren't allowed because they are now men. Can anyone say "double standard?" I wonder if Z. Budapest can. In a recent post on the Pantheon blog: (http://www.patheos.com/community/paganportal/2011/03/01/transgender-issues-in-pagan-religions/), Star Foster (who is not transgender) defends transwomen, saying, "We embrace so much, shake our fists at those who would seek to limit and define us, and then presume the right to tell someone the truth of their own body/spirit/mind? I tend to accept folks at face value. I’ve known transgender women for months without realizing they were MtF, and completely accepted them as fabulous women. Because they are. It wasn’t even a case of there being a question of their “femaleness”. If anything, they were more female than I." Thank you, Star Foster! *claps*

Z. Budapest (the founder of the Dianic tradition) is quoted as not only saying that transwomen have no place in Dianic Wicca, but that "women are born, not made by men on operating tables." She also referred to us as "transies." Ooooh, you little... mumble mumble...

That is beyond insulting. For someone so involved with the feminist movement, fighting for equality and respect, how ironic (and senseless) can you get? Not only that, but Wicca is one of the most accepting religions out there. We're all just people. I don't think Z. Budapest is helping her karma any by saying the things she's saying. The threefold law is one of the only laws in Wicca, and something that all Wiccans believe, regardless of tradition. It'll bite you on the ass if you're unkind to others. Check out the link above for the entirety of what she had to say.

In order to sign up for her online courses, you're required to respond affirmatively to the following question: "Are you a born woman?" Sheesh.

From http://wicca.dianic-wicca.com. Just a bit repetitive, I'd say. I think the Goddess knows I'm female.

I left a comment on that blog:

"Thank you so much, Star, Rose, and everyone else who has written in with support for transgendered folk. I am a MTF transsexual, and what so many take for granted (and why wouldn't they?), I, and others like me, had to fight tooth and nail for. Z Budapest is very wrong here. I am not a man. I have never been a man. I was born with male parts, but it was never me. Why is this so difficult a concept to grasp? I have been with a loving woman for four years, and she says that I'm one of the most feminine women she's ever met, and that doesn't mean "forced" femininity like a crossdresser may exhibit. It comes from within. Wicca, like just any other religion, speaks to and from the soul. The body is but a shell. It's the soul that lives on. I have the soul of a woman. It resonates through every aspect of my being. And I worked damn hard to be the woman I am today. It would be nice if Budapest and others would recognize that, just like they want everyone else to realize women's sufferings and struggles. Transsexuals deserve a chance to be given the same respect that cissexual women do. Don't confuse us with crossdressers or drag queens. We are NOT men."

Someone got bent out of shape and started thinking I was insulting crossdressers or drag queens. Is it an insult to call them men? No insult was ever intended. I have quite a few friends who are crossdressers. I just think that maybe Ms. Budapest is a bit confused. She said, "You can tell these are men." I know a lot of transwomen who, if they stood right in front of her, would look like any other woman to this lady. The worst thing is, Z. Budapest has quite a lot of influence in the Dianic circle. She founded the whole tradition, after all. A lot of women look up to her and admire her. So for many, her views are their views. Sigh. I'm sure there are at least a few Dianic covens with transwomen among their number. As a matter of fact, I do know at least one who is in such a coven, and one who started their own coven. Impressive. If Budapest would only listen, I think she could learn quite a lot from people like us. If only...

A big thanks goes out to Sally Sapphire for cluing me in to that post on the Pantheon blog! I really appreciate that, Sally.  :)

On a more positive note, the Intro to Wicca classes are starting next month! You can bet I'll be there! Nikki may be attending these classes with me also. Back on the Diet Train Again

Choo choo! Next stop... hunger pains!

Okay, it isn't that bad. I just started the Special K Diet on Monday (Feb. 28th). Last time I did this, I lost 13 pounds! The Provera (progesterone supplement) that I was on helped put a lot of that back on (about six pounds). That and nachos. Darn those yummy things. So now I'm starting this diet again. I was 165 pounds the first time, and I went down to 152. Now I'm 158, so we'll see how I do this time. Just for reference on why I'm bitching about being in the 150's, I am 5'5" and I have a slim build. When I met Nikki, I was 140 pounds. I'd love to get back to that! I have a lot of cute clothes that just don't fit me anymore.

I have two bars a day (one for breakfast and one for lunch), and then whatever I want for dinner. Drinks are as usual (though I usually just drink water anyway), and I can snack on raw vege's and fruit if I get hungry. As a matter of fact. I'm eating a bunch of baby carrots right now. We have a lot of bags stored up, so it's about time I got munchin'! I'm also pulling the wagon with the kids every day (to bring Savannah home from school), and since it's getting a bit warmer in the morning, I've been pulling it to bring Savannah to school as well. All together, that's about five miles a day, while pulling 50-something pounds behind me. I wasn't doing that kind of exercise last time I went on this diet.

Enough about that. I called about my therapist yesterday (I mentioned him here). They still haven't set me up, or called me, or anything. I don't know how long this is supposed to take, but I would like to get back in therapy sometime in the next decade. Heh!

Comments. What's up, people? No comments at all lately. Look at my last two posts. Zero, zilch, zip. And here I thought the "Dear Amy" post would generate a lot of comments. I'm still getting as many hits on my posts as always, just no comments. Was it something I said? To paraphrase Christopher Walken, "I got a fever... and the only prescription... is more comments!" So keep `em coming in if you can, even if it's just a simple, "Hey, nice post."   :)

On the Nikki front, things have been going much better for her at work lately (for those not aware, read the "Classroom Homophobia" post). She did a prayer in church a few weeks ago, and had a meeting with the principal and the homophobic jerk teacher she works with. First, the teacher lied and said that everything Nikki was saying is not true, and she has no problem with her. But then she really seemed to have no problem with her! She was civil all day, and continued doing so for the next three weeks. Wow. So chalk it up to the power of prayer if you will. Maybe there's another explanation, but for whatever reason, she decided to stop making my sweetie's life a living hell. That sure works for Nikki.

Until next time...

Cameron Diaz Loves Porn. How About You?

Cameron Diaz, actress and occasional potty mouth, recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and confessed an intimate secret. She loves watching porn.

She especially likes watching adult movies at hotels because of their billing discretion; she and her beau Alex Rodriguez must have lots of fun traveling together. Have a peek at her interview with Jimmy.

I was thrilled to hear about this; I think there's often a taboo attached to women watching porn. Like, it's too raunchy for us or something.

But it's a fine way to get in the mood when you're with your man or when you're all alone.
