Beyonce, Jay Z to patent Baby Blue's name

If you're a famous celebrity couple, it isn't enough just to give your new baby daughter a name an unique name, you have to make sure that nobody else uses it too.

Beyonce and Jay-Z are showing they mean business by trademarking Blue Ivy Carter's name.

According to reports, the couple filed an application with the US Patent and Trademark Office on January 26 to protect Baby Blue's name from misuse.

Rumours have it that the move comes after some companies tried to trademark Blue Ivy Carter's name themselves.

According to reports, applications by fashion designer Joseph Mbeh to patent "Blue Ivy Carter NYC" and by an unnamed designer to trademark "Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV" for a fragrance line have already been denied.

The star couple want to reserve the name of their daughter, born on January 7, 2012, for future use. It's not inconceivable that the world will see a line of infant or baby products by Beyonce, who already has a career designing her House Of Dereon label.

Earlier this week, the new mother was spotted wearing a huge blue ring and blue nail paint at her husband Jay-Z's performance at a Carnegie Hall concert.

The veteran rapper then performed his latest hit, Glory, a song he wrote about his then about his 1-month-old daughter.
