Drained (Blast From the Past Entry)

Yep, another poem. Better than no post at all. Or is it? I've been weeks behind on all my blog reading, so hopefully that means the authors of such blogs are still reading me. I'm trying to get caught up, honest!

Anyway, you may or may not otherwise notice that this was written on the same day as my previous entry about my name and gender change on my license. Yes, there was a lot going on, mainly the court battle with Nikki and her ex and practically his entire family, paying for an apartment that nobody lived in at the time, dealing with my parents and how things had to be "under their roof," I could go on and on. It was summed up pretty nicely in the following eight lines.

Drained

Heart hurting,
Emotions low,
Brain exhausted,
Too much to know.

Body lethargic,
Feelings numb,
Drained from worrying
Of what's to come.

Do You Know...? (Blast From the Past Entry)

Our Thanksgiving was really nice. Our friends treated us to delicious turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, greenbean casserole, and there was stuffing, but it was very peppery (sorry, Elizabeth). Nikki and I were really tired, so we went home and went right to bed for a nap. Gotta love that tryptophan. We got up at around 8:30 PM and told the kids to go to bed. Ha ha!

Nothing much else is new, so I'm going to post another old MySpace blog. It's a poem I wrote for Nikki. I've written a lot more since then, but they're not old blogs, so you can be spared further poems, I believe. ...Unless some of you want to see more?

Current mood: In Love With Nikki

Do you know...
My love for you burns brighter than the sun?

Do you know...
You will always be the only one?

Do you know...
I love your laugh, your smile, your eyes?

Do you know...
You're the one for whom my heart flies?

Do you know...
The sparkle in my eyes is caused by you?

And do you know...
That I will love you my whole life through?

I love you, Nikki.

Through the Fire (Blast From the Past Entry)

This should be it for the poems for awhile. Let me know what you think of this one. "Regular entries" will be coming soon, I promise!

Current mood: distressed

I wrote this yesterday while I was at work. Maybe writing this poetry is helping me in some small way. Right now I can't really tell.

Through the Fire

Walk with me through the fire.
Cleansing, burning, incinerating.
Destroy my each and every desire.
Feel the pain that fire can bring.

Walk with me through the heat.
It consumes with no remorse.
Tear the chaff from the wheat.
It will run it's deadly course.

Walk with me through the flames,
As they burn everything in sight.
Join me in this deadly game.
Come burn with me tonight.

Hungry, Thirsty (Blast From the Past Entry)

I can't believe I wrote this poem for Tee, and that I ever felt that way for her. If I didn't think it was good, I wouldn't even be reprinting it here. I actually think I did a pretty good job. It's kinda hot, no?

Current mood: depressed

I wrote this poem almost a month ago, but I never gave it to Tee. For some reason, I thought it needed something. Reading it now, I see that it's just fine as it is. It pretty much sums up how I'm feeling right now.

Hungry, Thirsty

Thirsty.
Thirsty for your kiss.
No barrel of water
Could quench me like this.

Hungry.
Hungry for your touch.
My skin starts to ache,
I want to feel you that much.

Leave me in the desert,
Without food or drink.
I would only want you.
Of what else would I think?

Leave me in the ocean,
So tired I can't swim.
It would be nothing compared
To how I'm drowning within.

Saturate me with your love.
Feed me with your sweet caress.
Drench me with your loving kisses.
It's you I want, and nothing less.

Stars (Blast From the Past Entry)

Another poem by yours truly. I think it's a bit more upbeat than the ones I've posted in the past (here and here). It's one of my favorites.

Current mood: calm

Here's a poem that I wrote a couple of months ago. Please let me know what you think. It's regarding my fear of being hurt by anybody that I may get close with. I can imagine the voice of Mira Furlan (from Babylon 5) reading it aloud. The third to last line is actually right from the fifth season of Babylon 5.

Stars

The sun went down on my world,
Covering me in darkness.
Blackest pitch, deepest hurt,
Unprotected in the night.

A new star shines in the darkness,
Go to the star, reach for it.
No! Stay away from that star!
It can scorch me, burn me.

The promise of warmth,
The threat of fire.
I want to reach out,
But I fear the flames.

I must find my own light once again,
Be the brightest star in my sky.
Soon, I too can be a star,
And then...we can fly.

Unspoken

(Just something I've been struggling with lately...)

Unspoken,
Fears found.
Uncertain,
Words bound.

Something's wrong,
Wrong with me.
I've just been caged
So easily.

My instincts warn,
I can't believe.
I need the truth,
Lest I take my leave.

Voice my sorrow,
Speak my rage.
Loose these shackles,
Break this cage.

My Emptiness (Blast From the Past Entry)

We're racing back in time at the speed of light, to another one of my old MySpace blogs. Here we have a poem that I had written, which I actually liked enough to let others see. Once again (as in a previous entry), I refer to someone who I had just met, who I had high hopes for. Once again, she didn't pan out, but that's quite okay, as I met Nikki eight months later. I hope you like the poem.

Current mood: hopeful

Wow...I wrote this about two months ago. Pretty damn depressing if I do say so myself. And yes, I did feel this way. By no means am I schooled in poetry, but I think this might be kinda good. Let me know what you think, please? :) On a personal note, I am kind of hopeful that what I described in this poem may be over for me...at least for awhile. Saying that may be a bit premature, but one can always hope, right? Then again, I am always second-guessing myself. I hope, but then I get afraid of even hoping. I am being intentionally vague here, but there are some of you who may know what I'm talking about.

My Emptiness
------------

Alone I stand
In this darkness
My emptiness
My void absolute

My tears fall
With nobody to witness
My cries ring out
Yet I stand here mute

The feelings within me
Shall never find release
The love I have inside
I'm not able to unleash

My blessing, my curse
My neverending thirst
I try to heal my soul
From this gaping hole

Release me from this loneliness
Take me from this empty fate
I pray I will be found
In my darkness, I shall wait

Alone I stand
In this darkness
My emptiness
My void absolute
