Rolls Royce limited edition Ghost V-Specification

The Rolls Royce Ghost is arguably one of the finest luxury saloons, and has enough grunt to put some of the best sports cars to shame, but we know the big V12 underneath the hood is more capable than the 563bhp it is tuned to make for the standard variant. Rolls Royce has introduced a new limited edition Ghost named the ‘V-Specification’ which has the same hallmark 6.6 liter V12 engine which has been tuned to produce 30 more brake horse power along with other upgrades. The upgraded engine in the V-Specification makes 593bhp (422 kW) and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque, which propels the special edition ghost from 100 Kmh (0-60 mph) in 4.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 250 kmh (155mph).

 In addition to the increase in power, the Ghost V-Specification comes with 21-inch two-tone alloy wheels, ‘V’ motifs engraved into the treadplates and rear armrests, and the multimedia cover lid. The special edition model also comes with a bespoke clock. Buyers can either choose from five specially selected exterior colors including white, grey or three shades of black, or from Rolls-Royce’s 44,000 hue palette. Rolls Royce is offering the V-Specification Ghost in either standard or extended wheelbase and will be available to order from January to June 2014. There is no word on the price as of yet but it is expected to be priced between the standard Ghost and the more powerful Rolls Royce Wraith.

 Sale of high-end luxury vehicles in terms of volume in China is one of the highest in the world and there’s no sign of slowing down. With steady rise in demand, China is fast becoming the largest market for luxury automobiles and that’s one of the major reasons why top-end marquees shower the country with more special editions than any other market on the planet. Just less than two months after releasing the Golden Sunbird edition, Rolls-Royce Bespoke is back again with another special Ghost just for China. It’s named the Canton Glory edition and pays tribute to the Canton Tower in Guangzhou city. It was unveiled recently at Auto Guangzhou.

Two examples of the Canton Glory edition have been built featuring a two-tone color scheme contrasting burgundy with either a blueish silver or white. Guangzhou’s legendary Five Rams statue is represented in a distinctive motif that is found on the coachline, veneer panels, headrests and dashboards. There is no word on the pricing or even if it’s still available for sale. The show also featured the China premiere of the ‘Bespoke Atelier’, a special area dedicated to Rolls-Royce Bespoke that affords a look into further possibilities for personalization.

There’s no doubt that Rolls Royce Wraith is one of the most luxurious saloon ever to hit the markets and sits at the pinnacle motoring excellence. Acknowledging its brilliance, the most powerful car ever made by Rolls Royce was honored at the BBC Top Gear Magazine 2013 Car of the Year Awards yesterday. The Rolls Royce Wraith won this year’s category of ‘Rather Splendid Motor Car of the The Motoring Editor of Top Gear, Ollie Marriage, also took on the role of delivery driver traversing 951 miles from his home to the car’s International Media Launch in Vienna in one day arriving in time for dinner.

While delivering the award, the Top Gear Magazine had some lofty words to praise the most powerful and the fasted Roller to be ever made: “It’s massive and magnificent: a staggering, bewitching, gorgeous object to spend time with. In short, an experience.” 

 “Since launch, I have been delighted to see Wraith win plaudits from some of the most respected writers in our industry. In taking the car from the UK to Vienna in just one day, Top Gear embraced the car’s intended use; crossing continents effortlessly at pace. This award today is an endorsement of Wraith’s status as the ultimate gentlemen’s gran turismo” said Richard Carter, Director of Communications, Rolls Royce Motor Cars. Rolls Royce has won quite a few awards this year including the 2013 Award for Excellence in the British Luxury Brand category by Walpole, but the Top Gear award might just be the most prestigious of the lot.

 A Diamond-studded special edition Rolls Royce Phantom debuts at Dubai Motor Show

 The 2013 edition of Dubai Motor Show kicked-off yesterday and Rolls Royce has built a special edition one-off Phantom for the event. The British automaker unveiled a special version of the Celestial Phantom which made its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show this year. The original Celestial Phantom’s USP is its starlight headliner studded with more than 1000 optical fiber lights which mimics the night sky of 1st January, 2003 to celebrate the birth of Phantom. To add to the bling value of the Celestial Phantom, the special edition is encrusted with 446 diamonds.

 The diamonds are hand-set into the door caps, center-console lid, and rear privacy divider of the Celestial Phantom which blends in with the starlight headliner. Middle East continues to be the biggest market for Rolls Royce Bespoke cars and this special edition diamond encrusted Celestial Phantom seems to be an appropriate highlight of the Rolls Royce stand at the Dubai Motor Show. There is no information on its pricing or availability. It is accompanied by two more special edition Rollers; the Phantom Coupe Chicane edition that made its debut a few days back and the Alpine Trial Centenary Collection Ghost are also put on show.

Rolls Royce unveils bespoke Chicane Phantom Coupe

The first thing that pops into our minds when we think of chicanes are racing circuits with long high-speed straights followed by curvy S-shaped set of turns; but can a Rolls Royce possibly fit into the picture? No? Well, the luxury automaker wants you to think otherwise. Rolls Royce’s own personalization department ‘Bespoke’ has come up with a one-off Phantom Coupe for the automaker’s brand manager in Dubai, Mohammed EL-Arishy. Named the Chicane Phantom Coupe, the very special RR is inspired by the Mecca of motorsports, the Goodwood racing circuit.

Rolls Royce claims that its Bespoke Chicane Phantom Coupe is meant to evoke the history and heritage of the Goodwood racetrack and the inspiration for it struck to EL-Arishy while gazing at historic pictures at the Goodwood Hotel near the Rolls’ Goodwood production facility. The regular wooden-finish trim of the cabin has been swapped for carbon fiber to give it a feel of modern day racing machines. Even the wooden steering wheel has been replaced, but strangely the special edition Phantom Coupe has retained the LED studded Starlight headliner. 

The seats are upholstered in bright-red leather with checkered flag motif stitched on it. On the outside, the same theme continues with a gunmetal paintjob for the body. The bonnet and windscreen pillars are finished in a matte black and the colored wheels is matched with the main exterior paint finish. But strangely, all the race-derived body enhancements have not been accompanied with any performance upgrades. Mechanically, it is same as the normal Phantom Coupe. There is no word on the pricing of the one-off special edition Chicane Phantom Coupe or even is sold or still waiting for a buyer to pick it up.

Rolls-Royce Collection debuts Phantom Series II at Qualis

 We all know that January 1 has been an important date with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Celebrating 10 years of production at its Goodwood, England home, the luxury car brand had plans to unveil a bespoke collection of cars under the banner of Home of Rolls-Royce Collection. This August 16, saw the first car from this collection debuting at Quails in all its glory. And to be honest, the model truly stands evidence engineering excellence and commendable craftsmanship that the artisans at Goodwood are capable of. The first car to debut from the Home of Rolls-Royce Collection is a Phantom Series II saloon. (P4L) The car displays truly impressive wood work throughout its interiors, which proudly features 170 sections made of 11 varieties of woods. The result has been achieved through a special handcrafted technique called marquetry which assembles varieties of wood into a ‘celebration’ motif.

 Also featuring on the bespoke creation is a complex but attractive ‘compass’ motif intricately embroidered into the armrests and console lid, which has painstakingly taken 100,000 stitches to create. A similar motif has been hand painted on the exterior of the car, which has been applied by a special technique – squirrel-hair-brush-wielding that takes close to six hours to completion.

 Although the delivery of the Home of Rolls-Royce Collection cars is due to begin later this autumn, the pricing details haven’t been disclosed yet. Autoblog reportedly expects the special edition car to start from $400,000.(300.000 see blog)

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Monaco has opened a summer studio in Cannes. The studio offers an insight into the world of the iconic brand in a unique club atmosphere and is located within walking distance from the famous Croisette. The studio will be open until October.

The display will include, in alternating combinations, Phantom Drophead Coupé, Ghost and the latest addition to the Rolls-Royce family, Wraith. The unique Rolls-Royce Bespoke personalisation service will also be featured in the Cannes studio, underlining the growing popularity of this service among owners across the world.

The most discerning clientele in the world now has direct access to the pinnacle super-luxury brand in this glamorous city, about an hour away from the sole showroom on the Cote d`Azur in Monaco. The studio is operated by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Monaco and located at MS Motors Cannes.

James Crichton, Regional Director Rolls-Royce Motor Cars for Europe, said: “Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is customer-driven like no other brand, and it is therefore quite natural that we offer an insight into the model range and our unique services at the very place where many of our customers spend their summer season. We are very excited about this all-new project and look forward to the feedback from our guests.”

The Cote d´Azur is an historic ground for Rolls-Royce as the company operated a design studio in the early days of the last century near St. Tropez. Founding forefather Sir Henry Royce spent his winter seasons between 1911 and 1931 in Le Canadel where Rolls-Royce motor cars were tested on the winding roads in the hills of the Alpes Maritimes.

Rolls-Royce designing a new Ghost Facelift

 Rolls-Royce is apparently working on a discreet facelift for its oh-so-popular Ghost model. It’s not that the automaker feel threatened by some other luxury car brand, because Rolls-Royce kind of operates in a league of its own. However, an upgrade every now and then is always welcomed

So here are a few spy shots of what seems to be the new Ghost, with a few Wraith-inspired features. (You remember the Wraith, don’t you? Ghost’s beautiful coupe version launched at this year’s Geneva show). The car was quite successfully camouflaged, making it difficult to spot the changes.

A closer inspection, though, will reveal what appear to be LED turning signals and LED running lights as part of the restyled headlights. The rear fascia doesn’t show any apparent exhaust outlets, and the door mirrors seem to have received some design modifications as well. Obviously, nobody can tell at this stage if the car will be powered by the same engine as the Wraith. Patience is a virtue, they say…

Rolls Royce Phantom

When seeing a Rolls Royce firsthand, you are immediately taken back from all the intricate details, materials, and all-around quality and craftsmanship from them.
