Whew!
No delays or backup contestants necessary! "American Idol" finalist Lauren Alaina is performing during part one of the big finale after all.
Earlier in the afternoon, reports circulated that the 16-year-old may have to bow out of the competition because she had lost her voice, and that producers were bringing Haley Reinhart back. But now, all is well.
During the live show, a doctor explained that during rehearsals, Lauren was singing so hard she blew out one of her vocal cords. But after giving her a bunch of medicine, the young singer would be OK to perform, the doctor told the audience.
