It's MY BIRTHDAY Beeches!!!

February 28th ... best day of the year.

So I'm 24 today. Kind of old. Serious. I feel like I'm going to wake up one day and be 83 and not know what the heck just happened.

But since today is my birthday that means I get to do whatever I want. WHATEVER I WANT! So I'm treating everyone to a little Italian and Danish beats. Enjoy!!

Oops!

Today began play-offs for the SønderjyskE -- well they don't really have a mascot.

We finished regular season in first place. Never once have they lost to the Rødovre Mighty Bulls.

But tonight that all changed. 6 - 1 was the final score. Can't wait to hear about all the gay inspirational quotes the coach made them find. Matt ran a few by me tonight. His favorite went a little something like this ...

"Marry the right person. This one decision will determine 90% of your happiness or misery."

Seriously? He forgets that I can take "happiness" right out of that. I'll determine how he spends that miserable 90% of his time.

It's Official!

This, ladies and gentleman, is my very first, ever, blog post!
I hope you enjoy this little addition as a way of keeping track of us.

Today has been a lot of the same. No good weather here in Denmark, nothing fun to do, brutal food. Always a lot of practice and work, work, work! Tomorrow is the first day of playoffs against Rødovre, so Matty is up pretty early (before 8:00 a.m.) to hit the road for his 3 hour trip. No big deal though. The girls are heading to Suzanne's for some appy's, dinner, drinks and maybe a little game playing. I'm taking Cranium, it could get embarrassing.

Oh and a lot more of Lucy's deathly farts. Great animal.

Funny Video Friday: David Blaine Street Magic: YouTube Edition

David Blaine is a famous magician and endurance artist. This is not him. This is a parody of his old TV special, "Street Magic." It's pretty darn funny. This is not a new video by any means, but it's one of the more popular ones on YouTube, with over 31 million views at this point. There are four sequels to this, and I've posted the links below the video. Just to warn you, though... the last two are not like the others. I actually don't like them very much, but I included them here so as to post the entire series.

This is NSFW (Not Safe For Work), and if the "F" word bothers you, don't watch this. Oh, and there are other swear words too, just in case the "F" bomb doesn't bother you, but other curses do. You wacko, you.

"If I go home, and there's a f***ing ace of clubs in my a**, I swear...!"

Angelina Jolie wants to play a Bond girl

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie was once offered a role in one of the James Bond movies but she turned it down because she wanted to play the super spy herself.

"It started with a call from Amy (Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures). She asked if I wanted to play a Bond girl. I said, 'No, I'm not comfortable with that, but I would like to play Bond'," Jolie said.

Interestingly, Angelina was not the first choice to play the lead in "Salt", a thriller about a CIA agent who's accused of being a Russian spy, reports imdb.com.

Tom Cruise had initially signed on to play the role, but dropped out at the last minute. Producers and screenwriters then rushed to adjust the part for Jolie, since it was originally written for a man.

Dear Amy...

I write in this blog mostly for myself. It's the comments that keep me at it, though. Just knowing that people are reading this crap makes it all worthwhile. Every once in awhile, someone tells me that I've helped them in some way. I love that. I love helping people. That's definitely a bonus, and one that never fails to pleasantly surprise me. I had the opportunity to exchange a few emails with someone wanting to start transitioning. I'm presenting these messages here, in the hopes of helping others. Perhaps some are afraid to reach out. Did I give the right advice or not? You be the judge.

Hi Amy,

I have been following your blog for some time, and I thank you for giving hope to people like myself who are wanting to emulate you.

I do have a question I hope you may be able to help me with?

I wish to start the process of becoming a woman, and gender re-assignment.

I would like to start by taking the estrogen pills, what did you need to do to start the hormone pills? What did you say to the doctor? Did you doctor easily prescribe you the estrogen pills? Did you need to do anything first to be able to have the pills?

How quickly after start taking the pills did you notice your body changing? I am aware it it not reversal, is that correct? That is ok with me, I just wish to start this process.

Hope you can help

XXX

Hi XXX,

First of all, thank you so much for reading. I'm glad that I can be of help to people who need it. :)

In my opinion, you should first be in therapy before starting on any hormone medication, particularly one that specializes in Gender Identity Disorder. My therapist gave me a letter to give to an endocrinologist after three months. Many people see a regular doctor to get their medication, and that's what I actually do now, for insurance reasons. You would just tell your doctor that you are transsexual and wish to start on hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and here is the letter from the therapist. If your doctor won't agree to start you on the meds, you'll have to shop around for one that will.

There are many who purchase their hormone medication via the internet, and don't see a doctor at all. Many times they can't afford the doctor visits since they have no insurance. I would NOT recommend doing this at all. There are some that have to do it this way, but if you can see a doctor at all, do that by any means possible.

Your blood levels should be tested regularly, every three to six months. They look at your estrogen and testosterone levels, and also your liver enzymes. You should take at least a 81 mg aspirin a day. Estrogen tends to thicken the blood, and the aspirin will help thin it out a bit. Some doctors order blood thinning medication instead, if the patient needs more thinning than an aspirin can provide. These are all things to consider, but if your doctor knows what she or he is doing, they'll have it all handled.

Besides estrogen pills, you should also use a testosterone blocker. They work together to help your body transition into being more like a female's. I use spironolactone, but there are other blockers out there.

As far as changes, let's see if I get this all right. It's been awhile. After a week or two, I noticed my skin was softer and my hair was less greasy. I also felt much more calm, and I could feel my emotions a LOT more. The aggressive/horny state that testosterone can bring out in a person was mostly gone. After about a month, I noticed my body hair had drastically decreased (softer, grew slower, and there wasn't as much of it as before). This is when the breast growth started as well. I began to lose muscle mass, and my hips and butt gathered quite a bit of fat.

That's correct, some of these changes aren't reversible. The body hair, grease in head hair, and skin softness (or lack of) should come right back. The testosterone will reduce the emotionality, and the aggressive kind of feelings will come back. But the breast growth is not reversible (you'd have to have a breast reduction in order to get a flat chest again), and after about three months, you'll be sterile for life. If you plan on having any kids with your genetic characteristics, you would have to bank your sperm (very expensive!).

A great resource is Transsexual Road Map. They've been around for years and have lots of great information, as well as links to other good sites.

http://www.tsroadmap.com/

I hope my answers were of some help to you. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Would you mind if I made your question and my reply into a blog entry? It may be able to help others. I'd remove your name, of course. Let me know. :)

Take care,

Amy

Hi Amy,

Thank you for taking the time to send me a detailed email, I really do appreciate it, and yes of course you are welcome to include our email in your blog.

I do have couple questions, I hope I do not come across ignorant? I just wish to know what the process is for starting things to become a woman.

Q1. When I go to my doctor for the first time and tell my doctor I have a gender dis-order and want to be a woman. Forgive me if this is a silly question, but do I need to dress as a woman when I say this in order to convince her?

Q2. What happens at therapy? Again during therapy do you have to dress as a woman, in order to add some weight to your case when starting the process of wanting to be a woman?

Q3. Once I have a referral from my therapist for hormone treatment, with so many different forms of medication which one worked best for you? What was the name of the hormone medication which saw your breasts grow, and your body change into a more feminine appearance?

Q4. Once I start the medication, what are the next stages of the transition into becoming a woman? Obviously therapy is on going, but what happens next?

Thank you again for everything, you have bee so helpful to me, I admire you for what you have done, and I want to emulate your success in becoming a woman

Thanks
XXX

Hiya XXX!

I'm sorry for the delay. I was very busy yesterday and then again today. Thanks for allowing me to post our messages in my blog. I assume I can do the same for these latest messages as well? :)

First of all, the way you say, "becoming a woman." Well, I'm a stickler for saying things correctly. This may feel right for you to say it this way, but if you feel that you are a transsexual, then you already are a woman, inside, where it counts. I was born as a woman, but in the body of a male. So if I were you, I would say, "becoming physically a woman," or better yet, "aligning my body to match my gender identity." That might make a better impression on any doctor you go to see.

Don't feel bad about asking questions. Asking questions is one of the ways we learn about things. I don't think you're ignorant at all. You just have some learning to do. I would recommend reading all you can on websites like tsroadmap.com, and possibly picking up a book like "True Selves." That one in particular is great to loan out to friends and family. It explains the transsexual dilemma to others quite well.

Q1. You can dress however you want to dress. The doctor will know that you're just starting out. I dressed in female clothes at the time because I did so every chance I could. Others may not feel the need to do so.

Q2. Ditto. I went to a few group therapy sessions at my therapist's office. (It was purely optional, but I found it to be interesting and fun.) Me and someone else were dressed as female, another was dressed as a man, and another presented herself as androgynous. It's all up to you and your comfort level. The therapist should be interested in your thoughts and feelings, not your outer presentation.

Q3. I've only used estradiol (a form of estrogen), spironolactone (a testosterone blocker), and finasteride (DHT blocker, to help prevent male pattern baldness). Last year, I added provera (progesterone) to help "round out" my breasts. That really helped with that, but it gave me crazy mood swings. I stopped after about six months. I would just start with estrogen and a testosterone blocker first, and worry about the other things later on. The doctor will probably start you on a low dose and increase it over time. I've never tried different brands of medication, as far as estradiol and spironolactone, so I don't have anything to compare them to. Many transwomen use estrogen patches or injections, and I've heard that the results pass along more quickly (plus it bypasses the liver). I hate shots, and the patch wasn't covered by my insurance, so it's been pills for me, from day one to present day.

Q4. Big question here. The details are all up to you, but I think it's best to let the medication do it's job for awhile. You'll be going through a lot (mentally and physically), and it may take some time to get acclimated. In the meantime, you'll need to get rid of facial hair, since hormones will not have much of an effect there. Laser hair removal can help a lot, but the only proven method to get rid of the hair forever is electrolysis. This can be quite costly and time consuming. Once you're ready to take the next big leap (with most or all of the facial hair gone), you can come out to family, friends and coworkers; get a name change (along with changing your social security card, driver license, and passport if need be); and live as a woman full time. Then it's time to save up for GRS (gender reassignment surgery), FFS (facial feminization surgery), or whatever surgery you might need or want.

Don't just follow my advice. This is a monumental change in your life, and you need to do all the research you can. Read, read, read. Take notes. And take your time. That's the best advice I can give you. You will want to rush through all this as fast as you can, but this should take you years to accomplish. It's not all about rushing to the end. Enjoy the journey.

You're welcome, and thank you for the kind words. I view my journey as a quest towards finding myself. Most people start out life with a body and gender identity that match. Transsexuals have to fight just to be treated as the gender they are. I wish you the best of luck with your journey.

Did Davis double-cross America as recruitment point man for Taliban?

American official Raymond Davis, arrested for double murder, had "close links" with Taliban and was "instrumental" in recruiting youths for it, the media here claimed on Tuesday, close on the heels of reports in the US that he was a CIA agent tracking movements of terror groups like LeT.

The "close ties" of 37-year-old Davis, arrested in Lahore on January 27 for killing two men he claimed were trying to rob him, with the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan came out during investigations, 'The Express Tribune' reported quoting an unnamed senior official of Punjab Police. "Davis was instrumental in recruiting young people from Punjab for the Taliban to fuel the bloody insurgency (in Pakistan)," the official said.

The report came a day after The NYT, citing US government officials , said that Davis "was part of a covert, CIA-led team of operatives conducting surveillance on militant groups deep inside the country."

Among the groups that Davis was keeping an eye on was the banned LeT, which carried out the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, the NYT said.

Meanwhile, a Pakistani court accepted the government's request to hold the trial of Davis in the heavilyguarded Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore , where he is currently lodged, for security reasons.

The Obama administration on Monday insisted that he still has diplomatic immunity under international law and Pakistan should release him forthwith . Soon after, the US state department wheeled out one of its "foremost experts in international law" to make the case that regardless of Davis' reported affiliation, he was entitled to diplomatic immunity because the US had clearly intimated to Pakistani government that he is a member of the administrative and technical staff under Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Sources also said that Pakistan had been told he is an intelligence operative working undercover.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF RAYMOND DAVIS
Pakistan & US are at loggerheads over the arrest of Davis, who is facing trial for gunning down two men in Lahore. The two sides differ on diplomatic immunity for Davis. Other disputed points in the case:

THE SHOOTING
Cops say Davis fired at the two motorcycle-borne men when they tried to stop his car; the duo were ostensibly chasing him after his vehicle bumped a rickshaw US says Davis believed his life was in danger after one of the men 'cocked his pistol and pointed towards' him

SELF-DEFENCE
Davis and US say he acted in self-defence after the two men tried to rob him at gunpoint
Punjab law minister says the weapon carried by one of the victims wasn't loaded and thus Davis can't claim selfdefence ; Lahore top cops says Davis fired at one of the men as they were fleeing

THE VICTIMS
Davis and US say the two men were robbers Pak media & politicians dismiss suggestions that the duo were ISI operatives and term them 'innocent youths' with no criminal record.

Cornucopia

This is a bit later than I mentioned in my last post, and there's no one topic for this entry, so let's dive right in!

I went to a therapy evaluation last Wednesday. The woman I saw thought that I should start on a small dose of Wellbutrin. After seeing almost every one of my significant others struggle with the side-effects of  psychiatric meds, I decided to hold off on that for now. Consider me "undecided." Most of my emotional problems are due to Nikki and I having problems. I'm fine for the most part, otherwise. But get this... there is a therapist who specializes in GID (Gender Identity Disorder), less than a half hour from me! I had called about 12 therapists and psychologists last summer, but none of them took my insurance. Some of them took NO insurance. But this one does, and he works for the same psychiatric healthcare organization that has already accepted me for services. What does this mean? Well, for starters, I get a GID specialist again (haven't had one of those since 2007), who "gets" transfolk and the issues they face. Second of all, he can write letters for surgery (GRS)! All I'll need now is mucho dineros... oh yeah... that. Well, one step at a time. The only downside is the fact that he's male. I feel much more comfortable with a female therapist. It'll be some kind of awesome if he's a transman though.

Speaking of Nikki and I, we are doing a lot better than we were. We still fight about stupid things, misunderstandings and such. I hate fighting with her. I feel like it injures my soul. Valentine's Day was very nice. We made each other handmade cards and such. She made a lot more for me than I did for her, but then, she's very artistic and crafty. We're going to buy each other something nice when some money comes in.

I got the notice from the court that I don't have to appear, due to my taking that diversion class last month. I thought I would have to appear in court to show them the notice and all, but now I don't even have to do that. Bonus!

We're going to have someone build a custom enclosure for Fizban (my green iguana). We wanted it to be outside, and Nikki found somebody at work who would build it for us, but the landlady doesn't think it's allowed by the management to keep the enclosure in the back or front yard. That would mean he might have to be loose in our room, probably with shelves going diagonally up the wall. I'm not too crazy about this, but we may not have any choice. I'm hoping we can fit a big enough enclosure in our room if we can afford it.

No, that's neither me nor my iguana. I would love to have an enclosure that size though! Maybe someday...

I posted a new geocaching blog a couple days ago. You can find it here. Then if you want, click on "home" on that site, and read the rest of the posts. Maybe follow and leave a comment. It's very quiet over there. "Shhh... be vewy quiet. I'm huntin' geocaches."

On the Wicca front, I'm still waiting for the classes to start. End of March. Sigh. I'm also wondering what tradition I'm going to be joining, and who will have me. This has me maybe more worried than I should be. Here's an excerpt from a message to my good friend, Page. She's my mentor for all things Wicca, and just an overall wonderful gal. Anyway...

"I'm feeling somewhat discouraged, Page. I asked the High Priestess, who I met two weeks ago) if there would be any problem with me being in their coven due to me being a pre-op transsexual. She said that the fact that I am in-between sexes (transitioned but have not yet had surgery), would confuse the flow of energy. Garderian Wicca, which the High Priestess practices, is rather strict and structured, with a distinct male and female polarity. She also said that I could join the outer circle of the coven, but to be initiated into the inner circle is highly unlikely. They have had a transwoman as an active member, but she had to leave to relocate to a job elsewhere. She wasn't a part of the inner circle.

She was very nice, don't get me wrong, but I don't want stay a member and be never be initiated, ever. I want all the experience that I can have. And what's more, I want to belong. I thought that in Wicca, I could find a place where I belong. Gardnerians won't initiate me, and Dianic Covens want women-born-women. I had to fight and fight to get to where I am, to just be seen as female. What does almost every other female have to do, to be seen as female? Be born. They get the "my precious baby girl," the pretty dresses, and the treatment that boys their own age just don't get. I missed out on that. I missed out on grade school, middle school, high school, my 20's (party girl time!), and now I'm going to miss out on being initiated into a coven, when Wicca is supposedly the most accepting religion there is...??? I can't accept that. I don't want to just practice solitary, it's not enough. Maybe others like doing it and that's great to worship the way you truly enjoy, but I want more. I've missed out on almost EVERYTHING ELSE that's out there. I want to be included already.

The bad thing is that most covens aren't listed anywhere. I can't just email somebody about it, or look on their webpage to see their bylaws or anything. I've heard that Feri (or Faerie) Wicca accepts transfolk, and so does Reclaiming Wicca, but I can't find out if any covens following those traditions are out there. Maybe I will find a very understanding Dianic coven, there are quite a few here, but I can't find any instance of a Dianic coven with a transgender member. But then again, most covens aren't on the net at all. Sigh. I'll just have to be patient and hope for the best."

Like I said, maybe I'm making more out of this than I should. Or maybe I'm just neurotic. Or both. Here's a YouTube video for your perusal if you wish. It's someone protesting about transsexual women being discriminated against in regards to learning, or joining, the Dianic Wiccan tradition. She got on my good side, this one.  :)

Britney Spears' Femme Fatale Is 'All Club Bangers Pauly D Says

The hands immediately go up when that beat kicks [in],' the 'Jersey Shore' DJ tells MTV News live about 'Hold It Against Me

MTV News caught up with the "Jersey Shore" DJ via Skype to gauge his reaction to Britney Spears' hotly anticipated new track, "Hold it Against Me," and the accompanying video, which premiered Thursday on MTV. He was feeling under the weather during our live "MTV First: Britney Spears' 'Hold It Against Me' Video Premiere" discussion but kept his appointment: "It's all good, man," he said. "I'm a warrior!"

Increasingly known for his night job as a DJ, the reality-show star gave a strong endorsement for the track's club-worthiness.

"It's a major, fist-pumping track," he said of the reactions the song has gotten when he's put it on. "The hands immediately go up when that beat kicks [in]. It's such a hard beat. It's like 'ba-ba-ba,' they're fist-pumping to that track. It has energy. I love it!"

When Pauly is working a room, he's careful to stay in tune with the vibe of the crowd. A track like Britney's latest single is exactly the type of song he prefers to keep in his arsenal as a secret weapon. It's the type of song he's dubbed a "go-to" track when DJing.

"I don't make any set [lists]," he explained. "I read the crowd. And then if I'm playing something and I'm kind of losing them a little bit, I know if I dropthat track, I bring 'em right back!"

So how might a great DJ follow up a "go-to" song like "Hold it Against Me"?

"You gotta keep that momentum after that track, so I drop my track immediately after that, 'Beat Dat Beat (It's Time To),' " he offered, in something of a good-natured plug for his own single.

Pauly D's position of privilege as an MTV star and budding DJ has, in addition to the obvious perks, afforded him an opportunity Britney fans would salivate over: the chance to hear much of her forthcoming new album, Femme Fatale, which doesn't drop until March 29.
"Seriously, it's all full of club bangers," he revealed. "And I'm so excited about it, because I cannot wait to play 'em in the club. Literally, you can play the majority of that album in the club. I love the way she went to that route."

In a move that displayed his increasing media savvy, Pauly refused to let any song titles slip, but he did reiterate that "they're all club bangers. They're a lot like 'Hold it Against Me.' [Femme Fatale is full of] major, major, club-banging tracks."

Do you agree with Pauly's "club banger" assessment of "Hold It Against Me"? Let us know in the comments!

Don't miss "Jersey Shore," airing Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.

Funny Video Friday: Sex Ed Rocks!

I know, what happened to the normal (yeah, right... normal?) blog entries? No, I'm not going to be renaming this blog, "Funny Video Friday." I do have two entries in the works, and hopefully one of them will be live tomorrow (Saturday). But for now, here's something funny. What if a death metal band made a song about sex education? And then made a wacky video about it?

I used to have a death/thrash metal radio show back in the day (no, really, I did!), and the music isn't bad at all. But the lyrics are over the top funny. And there are subtitles for people who can't understand what they're... errr, singing (?), which is just about everyone. My only complaint is that they should've gotten a sexier girl for the video.

"Babies suck `cause they barf, poo, and cry,
They have the ability to pee in your eye!"

Jennifer Lopez Brings Style To American Idol?

Jennifer Lopez - Does the newest host of American Idol Jennifer Lopez bring style to the show? Yes, Yes, and Yes.

Jennifer Lopez is undoubtedly a fashion diva! The singer/actress/judge hasn't skipped a beat in her stylish ensembles and likely won't stop any time soon.

Many style blogs such as Style Binge are gushing over Lopez's fashion choices,

Big fan of Jen's choices overall -- clean, simple and muted seems to be the mantra. She's flaunting less cleavage than Simon Kara and hasn't opted for anything so flashy it borders on distracting.

What do you think of Jennifer Lopez's fashion choices on American Idol compared to the other female judges?

Lady Gaga had designers up all night for Grammy costumes

Pop icon Lady Gaga caused her fashion designers to stay up all night preparing costumes for her Grammy performance.

The singer threw her design team into a panic in the run-up to her performance at the Grammy Awards - as she scrapped all the costumes two days before the ceremony because she didn't like them.

The 'Poker Face' hitmaker played her recent single, 'Born This Way, live for the first time at the Grammys.

She admitted that her own sci-fi inspired look during the set and the nude-coloured outfits her dancers sported onstage were last minute decisions causing her fashion designers at Haus of Gaga to stay up all night preparing the costumes.

"I actually designed all the clothes for myself and the dancers, and it was two days before the performance, I changed everything because I didn't like the clothing," the Daily Star quoted her as saying in an interview.

"And I felt so bad because the Haus of Gaga was all red-eyed and up all night and I would be like, 'I hate it, we have to change everything!' And they would be like (squeaking), 'OK, OK,'" she said.

But Gaga insisted she only changed her mind at short notice because she wanted everyone to look part of one big team to emphasise the meaning behind 'Born This Way.'

She said, "You know because they looked like dancers in the outfits we had and I'm so close with them, and Laurieann Gibson, my choreographer, everyone that's in the Haus of Gaga, all the creators, we're so close, everyone in the band, and I don't want them to feel like, the band and dancers behind me, because the performance of 'Born This Way' is nothing without all of them, it's about togetherness."

Though the festival commemorates the martyrdom of a Christian saint called St Valentine, the festival as it is celebrated today has little religious significance. In present times, Valentine's Day has assumed a secular and global flavor and is celebrated by people of all ages and races.

Another noticeable factor in Valentine's Day celebration of present times is that the festival celebrates love in all its forms and is not just restricted to romantic love. People therefore exchange Valentine's Day greetings with their parents, teachers, siblings, friends, sweethearts or anyone special or close to them. The commonest way of expressing love on Valentine's Day is through exchanging cards, flowers and chocolates.

Valentine's Day History and Legends
The romantic festival of Valentine's Day is said to have originated in pagan times in Rome when people celebrated annual fertility festival called Feast of Lupercalia in mid-February. A unique custom of the festival was the mating of young boys and girls for a year through a lottery system. Quite often the couple would fall in love and marry.

Strongly associated with the festival of Valentine's Day are the legends of three or more Saint Valentine of Rome. One of the most popular legends says, Valentine or Valentinus lived in Rome when the country was under the reign of Emperor Claudius II. It is said that Claudius engaged Rome in several unpopular and bloody campaigns. To maintain a strong army, Claudius continuously needed to recruit soldiers. But to his disappointment Claudius found that most men were unwilling to join army because of their strong attachment with their wives and their families. To get rid of the problem, Claudius banned all marriages and engagements in Rome. A romantic at heart priest, Valentine, secretly arranged marriages of young boys and girls and defied this unjustified and callous order of Claudius. When the Emperor discovered this defiance, he put Valentine behind bars and he was finally executed on February 14, about 270 AD. For his great service, Valentine was named a saint after his death.

By Middle Ages, Saint Valentine became the patron saint of love and lovers in England and France. In 498 AD, when Pope Gelasius decided to put an end to pagan celebration of Feast of Lupercalia, he declared that 14th February be celebrated as St Valentine's Day.

Some scholars however, say, romance was linked with Valentine's Day because of the popular belief in England and France during the Middle Ages that birds began to start looking for their mate from 14th February.

Valentine's Day Traditions and Customs
One of the most important customs of Valentine's Day festival is the exchange of love notes called ‘Valentines' by lovers. The tradition is said to have initiated in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans who sent the first known Valentine Day card to his wife from prison. In present times, Valentine's Day is the second biggest Valentine's Day card-giving holiday after Christmas. There is also the tradition of gifting flowers, chocolates besides other gifts of love on Valentine's Day as an expression of love.

Going on a date with one's Valentine is another popular tradition of Valentine's Day festival. Candle light dinners or evening together in a park are an all-time favorite dating idea in present times.

Valentine's Day Celebration
Valentine's Day is celebrated in a big way in several countries across the globe. Days before the festival markets wear a festive look. Shops selling gifts and cards are especially decorated with Valentine's Day symbols of roses, hearts, cupids and lovebirds. Aggressive marketing campaign by cards and gift marketers create hype for the festivals. On February 14, the spirit of love pervades the very atmosphere. One can find couples thronging parks, restaurants, malls and multiplexes holding hands and expressing love for each other.

Singer Rahat detained in Delhi under customs act

New Delhi: Noted Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was detained at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in New Delhi on Sunday by revenue intelligence officials after he and two of his troupe members were caught allegedly carrying US $1.24 lakh in undeclared foreign currency.

Thirty-seven-year-old Rahat and his entire troupe, numbering around 16, including his manager Maroof and event manager were detained and their interrogation were underway, several hours after they were held by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials.

A nephew of Pakistani singing legend Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat is a top Bollywood playback singer and has several hit numbers to his credit. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer this year for 'Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji' from the movie 'Ishqiya'.

The foreign currency was not declared to Customs officials after the immigration checks, a DRI official said. The troupe was on in its way to Lahore via Dubai by an Emirates flight, the official added.

The recovered foreign currency included US $10,000 and US $8,600 in demand drafts and some Traveller Cheques, a DRI official said.

"Law will take its own course. Rahat and his troupe members are still being interrogated and depending upon their statement and the gravity of the offence we would decide whether to arrest them or not," Majumdar said.

Khan was intercepted by DRI personnel aroaund 4 pm acting on some prior information, official sources said.

As per norms, a foreign national cannot carry beyond US $5,000 in cash and US $5,000 in other instruments. The person has to declare the amount if he is carrying more than this to the Customs Department.

According to DRI sources, the payments by the event manager to Rahat was made in Indian currency and US dollars and these people were allegedly found converting the dollars to Indian  rupees "through unauthorised channels".

Khan was earlier too involved in a controversy when organisers of a concert in Gurgaon filed a police complaint against him in July last year for his failure to turn up for a show.

Records did not support diplomatic status for ( American ) Davis: Qureshi

ISLAMABAD:Former Pakistan foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that according to official records and experts in the foreign office, the US official arrested for gunning down two men in Lahore is "not a diplomat and cannot be given blanket diplomatic immunity".

"The kind of blanket immunity Washington is pressing for (US official Raymond) Davis is not endorsed by the official record of the foreign ministry," said Qureshi, who declined to join Pakistan's new cabinet last week after he was not reallocated the foreign affairs portfolio.

"On the basis of the official record and the advice given to me by the technocrats and experts of the foreign office, I could not certify him (Davis) as a diplomat," Qureshi told The News daily.

Qureshi skipped the swearing-in ceremony for Pakistan's new cabinet on Friday after he learnt that the leadership of the ruling Pakistan People's Party had decided not to reallocate the foreign affairs portfolio to him.

Reports have suggested that the PPP decided to remove him from the foreign ministry because of his decision not to back the party's top leadership's move to grant diplomatic immunity to Davis, who was arrested in Lahore last month after he shot and killed two men.

Qureshi also spoke on the issue of Davis during his farewell speech in the foreign ministry, The News quoted its sources as saying.

The foreign ministry, on the basis of its records, had concluded that Davis was "neither a diplomat nor enjoying blanket diplomatic immunity," the sources told.

The sources contended that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had asked the foreign ministry not to "utter a word on the issue".

One source was quoted as saying: "Even in an inter-ministerial meeting held at the foreign office, it was agreed that Davis could not be handed over to America".

Davis was never registered in the Foreign Office's records "even as a non-diplomatic staff" as queries sent to the US Embassy remained unanswered.

The US mission had on January 25 sent a list of outstanding cases regarding the status of officials and diplomats but it did not include the name of Davis.

On January 28, a day after Davis killed the two men in Lahore, the US Embassy sent the list of outstanding cases to the foreign ministry and included Davis' name in it, the sources were quoted as saying by The News.

Lindsay Lohan To Be Charged With Grand Theft

One would think that if a person spends enough time in jail and in rehab, then sooner or later they should be able to re-enter the outside world with a pretty good sense of what was belongs to them and what doesn't.

I mean, tough people are in jail, right?! That's where they live! Have you seen that show on A&E called Beyond Scared Straight? Yes! Jail is full of roughers and toughers! In Beyond Scared Straight, the girls and guys who are in prison for life take it upon themselves to SCAAAAAARE troubled little kids (who beat their moms and skin cats to make yoyo covers) into getting their acts together so they'll stay AWAYYYYY from jail by saying "YOU WANNA BE LIKE ME? I'LL KILL YOU IF YOU COME HERE SO YOU'LL NEVER BE LIKE ME!" Right, so if that's what jail's like, AND THAT'S WHAT JAIL'S LIKE, how come Lindsay Lohan can't get her shit together enough to take a $2,500 necklace off of her neck before she leaves a store in Venice, California? Oh, right. Because even though the state of California considers her a criminal, they don't expose her to real prison life because even though she commits the crimes that violent people commit, a cell in general pop (that's an abbreviation for "general population," everyone) is too dangerous for her celebritydom! So they keep her in ad seg (administrative segregation), where she never learns how stealing hinders one's efforts to keep one's arms attached to one's body.

Seriously, A&E isn't just good for documentaries that chronicle the life of a huffer that's narrated by Meredith Vieira!

But anyway, it seems like Lindsay Lohan has learned nothing from any of her experiences behind closed doors since today, she's being charged with felony grand theft for supposedly "stealing" that $2,500 necklace. She plans to plead not guilty to the charges and even if she didn't intend to "steal" anything, the court plans to enter into evidence the almost half a million dollars worth of things that she's taken from photo shoots, NYC nightclubs, and from friends. So that's bad. If she's convicted, she could be sent to California State prison, where she'll do whatever it is she does in place of learning lessons.

Funny Video Friday: "With a Little Help From My Friends" Misheard

I love this song by Joe Cocker. It's probably due to it's being the The Wonder Years theme song (Winnie Cooper, ooh la la!), but wow, what a great song. I much prefer it to The Beatles' version, which is the original. Sorry, Beatles fans. I have a feeling though, that their version is just a bit easier to understand. Listen to (and read) this and you'll see what I mean. And hey, whatever Joe Cocker was on in this video... it had to be some serious stuff.

Oh, liver!!!

Salman Khan wants to let Katrina go

There is a lot of ambiguity about when Bollywood’s most desirable woman Katrina Kaif and her boyfriend Salman Khan called it splits. One of the reasons for this confusion is because this time around, Alpha-male Salman didn’t react to their parting as he has done in the past. On earlier occasions when Salman split with his girlfriends, Somy Ali or Aishwarya Rai, the star usually made a public display of his displeasure. This time he is all quiet and dignified; in fact he hasn’t even shown his remorse to anyone except to very close family and one friend.

Bollywood waited with bated breath for Salman to pour a soft drink in public over Katrina’s head or go below her Bandra home and holler, but the actor has chosen to maintain a safe distance from Katrina. As a result with each passing day there is a lot of curiosity building up.

Says a top actress, “Even now people are wondering if Kat and Salman are together. Or has she really moved on?” In answer to this, an insider told us, “Salman knows that Katrina has moved on. However, he has decided not to react. He just wants to let go.”

One hears from close sources that Salman’s closest friend and adviser, who is also Katrina’s agent, and a couple of family members have reportedly advised the actor not to speak about their split. The insider says, “Katrina and Salman sat down and spoke about their moving on like two mature individuals would.

Both of them are riding a wave of super-success and they have decided to maintain a dignified silence on the whole split issue.

Both are intelligent and they know that any tamasha would tarnish their images and take away from their brand equity.

In fact this time Salman has endeared himself to the public even more because of the mature manner in which he has conducted himself.

Paris Hilton Converts to Islam

JEDDAH – Saudi Arabia – Former American socialite, Paris Hilton has converted to Islam, her spokesman, Ian Brinkham, has revealed to CBS news.
“She has been toying with the idea for quite a while now and when she was imprisoned at Century Regional Detention Facility in 2007, she encountered a few people who had already converted,” Mr Brinkham said.
By converting to the Muslim faith, Paris Hilton has decided to shun her old life as a celebrity skank.
Speaking from an Islamic study retreat in Jeddah, she said: “I have now found total peace in my life. Before, I used to be known as an STD-ridden streetwalker , a ‘hoe’ and a person of loose morals, but now, things have changed. Allah be praised.”
Hollywood JihadMs Hilton plans to return to Los Angeles next week to start her own Islamic school in the middle of Beverly Hills.
“Forget Scientology or Kaballah. This is the religion to be in now. I’m not going to be wearing a piece of red string on my wrist or walk around like a robot talking to Xenu. Islam is the new must-have religion. and I’m going to spread the word of the Koran to everyone,” an excited Paris Hilton said.
Paris Hilton also plans to change her name to ‘Tahirah’ which means ‘Pure, chaste’ in Arabic. Her Islamic school will open in July and is set to become a popular Hollywood spiritual haunt for many celebrities.

Things have been going much better with Nikki and I. We both have our baggage. Sometimes my baggage sets off her baggage, and then her baggage gets my baggage even more set off. This begs the question, "How can we get rid of our baggage?" After all, it's easy enough to do at an airport, without even trying!

Seriously though, I went to therapy with Nikki yesterday. We saw her normally scheduled therapist. What we basically found out near the end of the session, is that we both prefer different levels of closeness and attachment. (Pssst! I'm the one who likes to be more attached!) What happens is that I get very enmeshed with Nikki, and prefer to share every little aspect of my life with her, and vice versa. Nikki prefers more freedom, so she tends to get freaked out at times, and can somewhat forcefully define her boundaries. "I'm not telling you that." "That's none of your business." This gets my paranoia sparked, and I'm wondering what shocking thing is going on that she can't tell me. I start feeling that she isn't telling me because I'll be very upset to hear this oh-so-secret thing. So then we argue, and I spend some time feeling upset - which I'm perfectly entitled to feel, but Nikki tends to feel guilty and pressured, and sometimes she even assumes that I'm not feeling this way, that this is all an act to make her feel guilty. Certain people in her life have been manipulative and controlling in the past, so she's used to having to deal with this behavior. Sigh.. relationships can get so complicated at times.

I'm still not talking to the former friend I mentioned here, nor do I expect to any time soon, if ever. I did block this person, finally. I felt a lot better once I did. Nikki even said in therapy that this non-friend is completely wrong about me. This person has quite a bit of baggage as well, and hey, three is a crowd.

DISCLAIMER: This shouldn't be necessary in this day and age, but it seems like it is. Wicca is a very gentle religion, based on worshiping nature, in the form of a God and Goddess. Wiccans don't all wear black, can't turn into animals nor turn you into one, they have nothing in common with Satanists, and there are no sacrifices or harm to others in any way. "An' it harm none, do what thou wilt," is the Wiccan Rede that they all follow. Any deed you commit (good or bad) will return to you threefold. Many in the LGBT community have joined Wicca and other Pagan religions, as there is far less (if any) discrimination based on sexual orientation. Gender identity is still an issue with some covens (small groups of worshipers), but it is still a much more open-minded path for people like me. END DISCLAIMER.

A week ago, I had the privilege of meeting a Wiccan coven, right here in Tucson. They are called Desert Henge Coven, and I met four of the coven members at a coffee shop about eight miles from our apartment. There were two women there as well. One of the women was interested in being handfasted on April 1st, of all dates. Her fiancee is not religious at all (atheist or agnostic, I forget which), but she is Wiccan. So he's basically humoring her with the whole ceremony. He didn't want a lot of "god mentioning," and so forth. The coven was willing to work with this, but just to a certain degree. It is a form of ritual, after all, and how can one hold a ritual without mentioning the gods at all? There would be no point to the entire endeavour. By the way, the high priest did tell us that he is an ordained priest (an ordained Wiccan priest, mind you!), and he helped to make handfastings legal in Arizona. You can get be handfasted and end up legally married when all is said and done.

Anyway, they got on to talking to me after that. The "Introduction to Wicca" classes don't start until late March / early April. I thought it would be a lot sooner than that. (Waaaah!) Well, it does give me a chance to research and learn quite a bit on my own. (Right now, I'm reading Raymond Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft.) I will most likely not be joining this coven, since they are Gardnerian Wicca. This is a very popular tradition (and many claim it's the only true form of Wicca), but I'm beginning to notice some of the symbolism of the male organ, and also of heterosexual sex (the wand going into the water to symbolize the guy's thingie going into the woman's hoo-dad...). Ummm, no thanks. Anyone is welcome to take their classes, even non-Wiccans, so I figure that will be a good starting point. Then I'll see what Dianic Wicca covens there are around here. Those are female only covens. Some are lesbians, and many (if not all) are feminists to some degree. While Gardnerian worships the God and Goddess equally, Dianic Wicca focuses on the Goddess.

I'm sure I've lost a bunch of you by now. For the rest: I'm so excited about these classes! I've been agnostic all my life, and it's about time I found my way. With both therapy and religion to focus on, I'll have plenty of outlets for my energy, besides just Nikki. I think it'll be good.

Illiana's Signs

Chinese Astrology: Tiger

"Tigers may not be the king of the jungle, but these striped cats are no softies! Magnetic and self-possessed, Tigers are born leaders. They have an air of authority that prompts others to fall in line, which is exactly how they like it. Although they are magnetically charming and fun to be around, Tigers like to go it alone sometimes too. A Tiger's main interest is in following its ambitions -- and maintaining control. Tigers are courageous beyond compare and generally come out ahead in battle, be it in the boardroom or the bedroom. Seduction is one area where the Tiger is definitely king! Noble and warm-hearted, Tigers have a natural, raw appeal that's extremely attractive to other Signs. They're not just about attraction, though; ever on the side of right, Tigers will fight the good fight to the bitter end if the cause is worthy. Opponents are wise to fear this feline. A bit of caution is a good thing around Tigers, since they can pounce without warning. They experience mood swings and often feel things more intensely than others, the latter quality being both good and bad. They can react poorly under stress and are prone to emotional outbursts. This Sign's bristling sensitivity can send friend and foe running for cover. A lesson that Tigers would be well-served to learn is moderation in all things. Once these cats can find their center and direct their considerable energies toward worthwhile endeavors (as opposed to racing through life), they will accomplish much."

Horoscope : Capricorn

"'Change' is your middle name at this point, Capricorn. You've been through more personal transformation in the past two years than perhaps in your entire life. The upside is that you're getting used to the intensity of it all. It helps that you're realizing the futility in holding on to people and possessions that only stunt your growth. So many layers continue to be shed on a daily basis but this also gives way to unquestionable personal power. Pluto in Capricorn will carry on for another 14 years; so if this is just the tip of the iceberg, imagine who you will be on the other side of your metamorphosis.

This year the focus shifts from a lifestyle focused on gadgets, information and social networking to introspection, home and family. You are about to encounter your most uncensored raw self on levels as of yet unprecedented. Ready yourself, Goat, because this spring an explosion of fiery planets in Aries sweeps the very base of your horoscope getting you back in touch with some of your most primal instincts. Competition, aggression and the need for plenty of physical outlets ensue.

Some long-standing money issues are finally coming to a finish as the planet of illusion and delusion gets ready to move on to your communication sector. You've learned to use your discrimination in choosing where to invest and where to spend. For the next 14 years, instead of worrying about money leakages you'll be working on mindfulness to avoid spacing out. In any case, your way with words is apt to become poetic and inspired, which can only make the world appear infinitely more beautiful."

I was just curious and wanted to keep record. How interesting. . . =]

Google Ads

I just have to tell you, Google Adsense works! It took me about a year and a half to get it, but I got a check from Google. For a hundred bucks!

They pay off in hundred dollar increments, at least to me, anyway. I've been told it can vary. I've sometimes felt like a heel for having ads all over my blog, but it finally paid off. This money is going right to my GRS fund. So far I have $17.23 towards my next Google check, and that's only since December, so it looks like I might get paid quicker next time. The more hits to your blog, and the more ads clicked on, the more money you get. I do my very best to get as many readers as I can. I never want to toot my own horn and ask people to follow my blog and such, but if you know anyone who may like reading this garbage, send `em on over!

On the flip side, I decided to run my own ad, through Google AdWords. I had been getting many messages from Google (both through email and snail mail), imploring me to sign up for $100 worth of free ads. This had been going on for over a year, but I was hesitant to try it. I was worried that I might go over the hundred dollar limit, owe Google money, and have my blog shut down if I was unable to pay them. It seems that most of the time one gets something for free, there turns out to be some hidden expense. However, upon checking it out and fooling with it for a bit, I found a good way to run an ad for my blog, without getting burned in the process.

First of all, you can specify the amount at which the ads should stop running. I believe I set this at $98, just in case it would go over a bit. Second of all, you can indicate the expense per day that an ad would accrue. I set mine for ten dollars a day, so that I could easily monitor the ad's expense and "put the brakes on," should I get too close to the $100 limit.

Here's a picture of my ad statistics. The ad itself is located in the top left corner.

I received 173 hits in all, most of them from the keyword, "transsexual." In other words, someone fired up Google (or any other Google site that has ads) and typed in "transsexual" or "transsexual" something or other. The ad showed up on the side or at the bottom of their search results. As far as the hits I got? That was actually someone clicking on the ad, and getting directed to my blog. I didn't notice much of a difference in the hits when looking at my blog statistics, but there weren't that many hits per day. Hopefully I gained a few more readers though. If you found me via a Google ad, say hello!

In short, I can say that both of these Google services worked for me. And no, I was not paid to say this, nor was there any other compensation involved. I'm just so glad it paid off.
